I want to share my experience with all of you. I purchased a pair of Trailcross Mid Pro following the size guide on the official website, so measured my foot at 28.8cm and I ordered size 46 2/3 (as recommended by adidas). I received the shoes and they turned out to be too big (too long and too wide), so I had to return them and order a new pair in size 46. These Trailcross are really very big, for comparison I wear size 46 for Magnum Boots, and size 47 for Puma shoes.

I wanted these in the mid but they didn't have the green in my size anymore. I went with the Columbia Outdry Facet 45. I don't do much road biking, but I know these pedal well for a long time. I use the OneUp Components composite pedal, and have been stoked on how comfortable and durable they are. Great review Alan. One comment if I may for riding shoes, show the wear on the sole from the miles you have completed. I have avoided newer FiveTens due to the fact my Freerider soles were Swiss cheese in a couple months, and newer models were said to wear even faster. Running older Impact VXi due to this & they don't hike very well, but wear like iron.
@mtb_alan4 жыл бұрын
No problem. You can see the wear after 300 miles on the Trailcross at 5:28. I've personally had no issue with my outsoles prematurely wearing out. At 5:38, you can see the wear from 1.5 years on the Freerider Pros. Note, the Freerider (regular) that is shown just before the Pros weren't used as long as the Pros. I think rider behavior, pedal choice, and spike height are also factors to consider. But I am mostly interested in how well they perform. If they look all torn up, but the grip is just as good, that's what matters to me.
@TonyToretto254 жыл бұрын
Sorry that I missed that. I move around a lot on the pedals so I get holes straight through the sole, looks like I'm gonna have to wait longer.

The size issue could be down to the fact that Adidas relocated the Five Ten Brand to Germany , though the shoes are made in Vietnam . I ordered a half size bigger than my normal 46 cm shoes and had no issues with the fit , I had tried a pair of free rides that were 46 a few days before and they did not fit . but the ones I ordered at 46 1/3 and they fitted . to be honest I find most shoe makes inconsistent with the same size these days.
@mtb_alan3 жыл бұрын
Interesting thought. As I understand it, the sizing difference results from the Trailcross being an existing Adidas shoe that FiveTen augmented. And Adidas sizing has historically been different from FiveTen.

Hi Alan, I'm new to enduro with my ebike and used regular sports shoes until now. About a month ago, I had a silly fall and dislocated my big toe after kicking the ground. Now that I'm getting back into riding, I've decided to buy dedicated MTB shoes to prevent a similar incident from happening again, haha. I'm leaning towards the Trailcross Mid since I live in Spain where it gets pretty hot for much of the year. My only concern is if they provide enough toe protection to avoid similar injuries. Apart from that, they seem great, and I like the added ankle protection. What do you think? Can I be confident with them? Thanks!
@mtb_alan Жыл бұрын
Yo! Sorry to hear about the toe. That sounds painful! Glad you're healed up and back at it. Not long after posting this review, I actually had an incident where I smacked the pinky side of my foot on a rock at the side of the trail and the didn't do much to protect me. I would say that for legit protection, something like Freerider Pro or the Crank Brothers Stamp shoe is a better choice. I've been running the Crank Brothers Stamp shoes for the last couple years and have been really happy. It definitely stays hot a lot here in Southern California as well, and the Stamps (or Freerider Pro) are not gonna be terribly cool, but I've been fine with them in the heat. It might mean using some thinner wicking socks. Hope that helps.

Super interesting thanks! So I have Adidas Booster running shoes in 44 2/3, where I usually wear a size 44 for other brands. The size chart for these Trailcross LT's suggests a 44 2/3 with 27.6cm foot length. So you would recommend one half size down, which in my case the closest would be moving down from 44 2/3 to a 44? Or would you suggest adhering to the size table? Thx
@mtb_alan2 жыл бұрын
I think they may have sorted things out so it’s probably better to go with their sizing chart.

@@mtb_alan Thx for your response! I already ordered my normal size (44) as the Adidas site recommended it. This is half size down from the size chart. I will report back my findings 🙂

Confirmed, pick the size according to the size chart! I ordered both 44 2/3 (10.5 us) which the Adidas size chart recommended based on my foot length, as well as a size down 44 (10.0 us). The 44 was too tight. The 44 2/3 (10.5) fits perfectly. Note: I also have the Trailcross Gtx and regular Adidas Boosters in 44 2/3 (10.5 US). Maybe this helps somebody in the future. 👍

@mtb_alan2 жыл бұрын
😆 I was joking about the LT thing. I mean, “lemur terrain”? But yeah, it does help to have the right gear. What’s nice these days is that there are good options. Crank Bros. makes the Stamp shoe, Etnies has an MTB shoe, etc. But if you wanna just dip your toe (no pun intended) the Freerider (not pro) can be a low risk investing.

If you’re going with flats, I think these would work for a longer XC style ride. Especially in warner weather.

Never had a 510 shoe before so I don’t know what the sizing is like. What is the sizing of the trial cross compared to regular shoe sizing ?
@mtb_alan3 жыл бұрын
Every shoe brand sizes a bit different. As such there’s not really regular sizing. That being said, some have said that the Trailcross sizing aligns with Adidas sizing which, compared to other FiveTen shoes, is bigger. Or you could say that other FiveTen shoes run smaller.

Oof...that's a tough on. The Trailcross would breathe well and work well when you're off the bike. But I would probably go with something stiffer like the Crank Bros. Stamp shoe since comfort on the pedals and pedaling performance is probably more important. I am definitely not an expert when it comes to super long rides though.

@mtb_alan2 жыл бұрын
I like the Pro better. It pedals better (stiffer sole) and feels more precise. It also soaks up some of the chatter. I also like the greater protection it offers. Some prefer the regular Freerider because it's more flexy and feels more like a skate shoe. This is normally better for more jibby stuff and tricks. So it depends on what you're doing.
