Today I will show you how to install an MTD 46inch Dozer snow plow blade on a Yard Machines 14.5 Lawn tractor made by MTD.
Be aware that you will need to reinforce this lawn tractors frame if you plan on using ground attachments. You risk damage to the frame is you do not heed this warning. I show how I reinforced the frame in this video as well as take you though a 10 min 1/2 foot of snow test on my driveway. Enjoy.....

Just an update on the video: 4 snow falls and 1/2 inch to a foot at times and this thing EASILY plows the snow. I just push it all on the other side of the road and it works great. Then the town plow pushes it away so I always have room to keep plowing through the whole winter. Today I did 4 driveways in 20 min. LOL

If I have time this weekend before Christmas were expecting 15cm of snow. I'll film it full frame so you guys can see how cool this thing is even in deep snow.

Only 15 cm = 6ins I have a similar mower Yard Machine 17hp with that plow and 375 ft uphill driveway and I often push 6"-12" of snow with it. You should run the mower a bit faster. Do yourself a favor and get the cable to alter the plow angle, save getting on and off each time.

I have a 2006 bolens mtd lawn tractor, your guide to attaching the snow blade was very helpful. I have yet to fully test mine, however when you use yours, it's better for the tractor to be in 6th gear, and just use the throttle to modulate your speed. It allows for maximum torque to the ground and less fuel consumption.

Interesting. I have had that same plow on 3 different mowers, a Sears and two MTDs, its now on the same mower you have, I lost some of the brackets changing from one mower to the next, so now its only bolted to the front. never needed any reinforcements on the frame and nothing has bent, I plow a 375 foot driveway with it. Thanks for the video.

I use this blade on a Huskee LT3800 with the 12 1/2hp engine, works great but had to put bigger tires on the front to get the blade off the ground when it is raised. I like it for plowing my dirt driveway, has a little problem with deep wet snow, but that is not the blade's fault, I don't have wheel weights, but at 270lbs figured I am heavy enough to hold it down, but still have to use a little finesse to get the job done, maybe a half a blade full of snow at a time. Like I said it is not the blade's fault, it does great.

Even though I'm a woman I think I can do it with my lawn tractor. I live on a small ranch and need to clean out arenas. Hard to get anyone to help but I'd rather have my own equipment to do it myself. Can you give me some kind of price of what it would cost for new?

I payed 500 for the plow and about 120 dollars for l channel steel and bolts. Do not use this plow unless you reinforce over the engine to front tires or you will ruin your ride lawnmower. Mine still fine but you WILL bend your frame otherwise. The chains tires are must too or you will spin out and go no where. I'm fat lol so my weight is enough to sit and keep traction. If your say 110 lbs you will need to add weight on back. My transmission is fine even after all these years. The blade attached is heavy. Its spring loaded so if you hit a rut in concrete the blade will break or give way to skip over the object to take impact away from the frame. That's what the blade spring on the top is for. It sides on steel skid legs that are adjustable for height. I've gone thru 3 feet of snow no problem. Just have to move it all over to pile it. Angle blade and go line by line then straight blade to put off driveway into grass. As you do this lift the handle to continue to pile snow higher and higher. Great lawn tractor.... especially the bag system for bagging leafs...40 bags a year lol

I have one too, but I hated it. After snow storm, you have to do it right away. Also, you have to do a wider path. If there is a snow storm back to back and it freeze, I am dead cause the blade stuck in the Ice and hard to push :(.

I have the MTD snow blower also. I bought the blade because I had some lawns to groom, in the spring, after some of my clients yards were scuffed from snow plowing. I am going to try the blade for snow and if it doesn't work I'll attach the blower. I also coat my snow equipment with a special spray made just to make the surface more slick. The spray I'm using is called " Snow Jet ". I agree with your comment in not letting the snow get way over your head before going out. Now the snow removing instead of being a job, is a JOB.

@@gereral1_jackofalltrades I use chains as well, but only use this plow for lighter snow. I bought a real plow last year. Sorta real lol. It's a light duty "personal" plow that connects to a front hitch. I have a 700 foot driveway and a parking area plus I plow to my fire pond. The little plow still works well though.

I just picked this up at Tractor Supply for about $150 (clearance), and slapped it on the front of a beater Deere D130. It bolted up; I used some extra plates that were included to catch my frame. I'm able to push mulch & dirt around - we just got a ton of snow here, and my turf tires without chains or weights weren't doing the trick traction wise. What I'm having trouble with is that it is really hard to lift the blade with the handle. Should there be some kind of spring assist to lift the blade? Did I do something wrong? Sure seems stickier than I'd think it should be given the leverage on the handle.

Should pur a new one on soon.

James Stan Year 3 and still fine. When I plow snow I do a bit at a time. work it all to the road and do small passes to put onto the road edge tell complete. This tractor is not designed for this but reinforced metal Frame is strong and working great. my bagger in fall hold way more weight than the plow does on an angle pushing snow. The frame not reinforced would have bent where the from engine sits on the frame 2 inches from the muffler. the angled channel was supported with think bolts and the manufactured bolts were replaced by these bolts at top and site and near the clutch pedal. past or across the clutch pedal frame is super thin and if the frame was to collapse it would be here. so I ran steel channel 1 foot past this point and connected to the step foot rest part. Removed the small screw bolts and put in heavy duty bolts. so stress is supposed before the muffler to the front engine across the steering frame to the back of engine to back or clutch. at this point it's double steel to the back wheels and transmission. If the Trans belt slips I can remove the engine bolts and shift remove belt and install another one. not a big deal for me. With no experience on tap and die I suggest they pass on converting this tractor but if you got time and skill go ahead. What I find is I got thru mover deck belts every year cause of the bagger with leaf season. I will post a follow up when my Trans belt starts slipping. on years so will see how long it lasts. Even if it did go I'm sure 4 years on a rubber Trans belt is pretty good.
