You made short work of them :-). Nothing wrong with any of your methods, whatever works is all that matters, and no damage was done at all, smashing :-D. That puller is a god send, well worth the money when you originally bought it, finds uses again and again :-). I have and old two arm puller claw type that i bought when i was 17 to remove the bearings from a motorbike, its not as good as your plate/bolt type but it comes into its own. . A frend could not get a splined windscreen wiper off his car, it rusted and became one with the car lol. The two armed puller with claw ends just made it look so simple, you gotta love the right tool for making a job easy to do :-D

+zx8401ztv Pullers are nice , and do more usually, than pounding does . I was hoping these wheels would of been harder to do , would of made a better video.

I new an old Navy BT and he suggested I use wintergreen oil as a penetrating oil after everything else I tried failed. I got it at the grocery store back then??? Also got an eyedropper and put it to the test. Surprised me how well it worked and it smelled good too! Camera's get a mind of there own sometimes. hehehe

I just got a new rider and was going to take the old scotts/jd and use it to pull dead cars into the shop. The tires are so bad you can see the air threw the sides.lol I needed to get them off to fill with concrette now I know how. I knew it was not going to go good anyway but got to lay them on there side to fill them. Thanks for the idea.

I wish I had a couple holes in my rim to put a puller on, got nothing to hook into
@wtbm1232 ай бұрын
If you have an air hammer , can use it against axle bolt while pulling out on wheel. . Or could drill holes . If can still drive it , penetrating oil and driving with lose bolt can help , and sometimes does nothing. Hope you get it all sorted out.
@wild87572 ай бұрын
@ I sprayed that bitch for three days with PB blaster, tried air hammer no luck, picked up a heavy duty three jaw puller meant for pulling rotors and pulley’s, used a impact wrench on the puller with torch heat and striking rim with hammer underneath at same time, started to bend the rim had to stop, that bitch still won’t come off, looks like it’s gonna have to be permanent, removed the whole axle and will put new tire on and put the the axle back on the rider, not ideal but it will work. All that just to change a tire WTF
@PeterL-r6w Жыл бұрын
The center bolt is 5/16 UNF. Cap screws have a smaller head and will pass inside the wheel tube. I used a selection of 3/4" to 2.5" in length and the point of the puller locates inside the head of the cap screw. Use or cut the first screws so they bottom out so as not to deform the shaft threads.

Hey Terri!!!! I have melted a candle into the area where a pulley is seized to a shaft, they seems to lube them up pretty well, good idea on the washers to keep from damaging the rim.... BTW, have I mentioned that I hate tires???? Thanks for posting Bud!!!

+Harvey Spooner I have also used the wax a few times on pulleys and things , but never tried it on these . If i have any tires to change in the near future , i will send them to you , seeing as you like doing them so much . lol

yes, you got pretty lucky that these weren't real stuck, I hate those with the flat spots on the end of the axle shaft, if you saw my video where I had to pretty much mutilate the rim to get it off the axle, but this isn't new, way back in the 80's they were using this method.
@wtbm1238 жыл бұрын
+MissouriOldTimer I have had them put up a good fight before , but when i decided to video removing them , they were to easy . Some just like to never come off
@tammygosnell8 жыл бұрын
I tried this with no luck.I actually heated the rim and usued PB blaster several times over a 3 hour period.I thin used the harmonic puller and as I started to tighted the puller.The threads started to deform on the shaft.I immediately stopped and glad I had the same size tap as the shaft.Just be careful.Everyone has different outcomes though.

If you have an air chisel , put the bolt in most of the way , may be able to remove washer if it has one . But pull out on wheel and hit the center bolt with air chisel . Sometimes that works well . Just be care full of not hurting the bolt or threads in axle
