How's she goin'? The wheel had no holes in it to attach a puller to, so I figured I'd drill a couple. Then I had to connect the puller to these holes. The chain sure helped with that one!!! Thanks for watching and commenting Marc. Take 'er easy!!!

That was a genius idea using the chain with the puller! I'm a big fan of using heat for jobs like these (propane torch). The penetrating fluid I like to keep on hand is PB BLASTER. It seems to break out rusted parts better than anything else. Sometimes I will spray a rusted bolt or part in PB BLASTER, let it soak then heat it with the torch (alternate between those two methods and most things will break free). As a last resort, I always keep a 20LB SLEDGE HAMMER at the ready!! haha You will find PB Blaster at any parts store such as NAPA or Canadian Tire. Funny story: One day I had my wife with me at NAPA. The front of the store had racks full of small parts like door handles and nuts and bolts, and as you get deeper into the store the shelves had bigger things like hand tools, drills and supplies. Right at the back of the store, was a wall full of bigger tools including some huge sledge hammers. My wife commented that the sledgehammers must be there for jobs that started off small but ended up needing the stuffing knocked out of them!! Hahaha I thought her view of the store pretty funny (she's no mechanic...and, come to think of it, I don't think I'll let her anywhere near my car after hearing that!! LOL). Keep your stick on the ice, Mike!
@GrampiesWorkshop
@GrampiesWorkshop 3 жыл бұрын
How's she goin'? That was a good observation of the NAPA store Brad!!! Pretty funny. But I bet that is the stores philosophy!!! As for getting the wheel of: it put up a pretty good fight but I outlasted it. LOL I was going to put heat on it but there is a spacer between the wheel hub and the transaxle casing. I didn't want to melt that spacer as it is made from plastic. The same with the sledge hammer option. I didn't like to pound too hard on the back side of the wheel hub in case I damaged the differential. So it was reduced down to making this puller. It didn't work real well, but good enough eh!!! Great comments and thanks a ton for tuning in. Take care!!!

Hi Mike. Hey that was a great idea for the puller. Sure glad it came off for you. I've tried just about everything including drilling big holes so my puller jaws fit through and the only thing that happened was I bent the center of the rim. I've even heated them which does work most of the time but as you probably guessed that ruins the axle seal. Put anti seize on when you reinstall the wheel. Great work

HEY MIKE. Tip # 69, LOL is take a map torch (Acetylene is better) and heat between each stud. You will hear it pop and you are golden bud. No matter how you made it work yer a winner my dear friend. How's she goin'? Thanks for dropping in and watching the video on the wheel removal. I have seen where wheels are heated up with a propane torch to help with removal as well.
