I used to resent the high cost of these bikes. Managed to buy a used one at a great price from a friend. Must say I’ve been converted. Living in a city it’s extremely useful - it’s very fast and nimble up to about 15mph (initial acceleration is superior to most other bikes), I take it inside everywhere I go including restaurants and buildings so have never needed to lock it. I comes with me on buses, trains and taxis when travelling longer distances. It is also relatively easy to fold and unfold. Downside is it’s not great up steep hills and isn’t as fast as a road bike over longer distances or higher speeds. Would I spend full price on a new one now? Yes, because I use it so much and the exceptionally small folded size is so useful.

Amazing philosophy and clarity, so excited to hear about R&D, Brompton tweaking's been a bit slow past few years, been more 3rd party lately, hoping for more stuff stock like Bromptification clamps, electric, Rohloff option, etc.

I just bought a Brompton. I waited for the new gearshifter. The bike shop told me that it was worth the wait in performance terms but not worth the price as they quipped that main reason for the price hike was they had to pay for a new factory!!
