Are you able to drive it right afterwards? Direction on grey rtv says 24 hours before filling with fluid, obviously I’m not filling with fluid so I’m just curious.

I didnt let mine sit for 24 hours, I did do this at night though, went to sleep and the next day I was driving like normal. It's not as crucial for this particular install.

Loctite needed for the bolt that holds the springs in place?

I got a wierd sound when I drive after I change the spring and it happens in gear 1 and 2. The sound is like someone using a cane and hit a metal but very fast.

Im not sure what it could be. But I would double check the install asap to ensure nothing is loose and to prevent any possible damage

@@ksisjdm I open it up again and clean all the parts again. This time I replace back the original spring. And make sure the spring direction is same as before. The sound seems to vanish. I hope it remains this way. I will install the Mtec spring again next month during my gearbox overhaul

What does that bolt in front of the trans hold? Is it necessary when installing the springs ?
@ksisjdm7 жыл бұрын
+k20CRX1 The Allen bolt on front holds the mechanism in place in the trans. It is absolutely necessary to remove that in order to get the shift selector out and back in to keep it in place through shifting gears
@k20CRX17 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. Installing this tomorrow. I just wanted to double check.

Question... That shifter housing doesnt look OEM or am I tripping? On my FA5 the 1 to 2nd is on the right side if youre looking at it from front bumper to the engine; vs yours that is on the left side.
@ksisjdm6 жыл бұрын
Yes you're trippin. The gear arrangement is in the same and direction from K to K. In a fa5 since it's a z3 engine and trans, the gear selector is different but the gears are arranged the same.

Have you had any issues getting into reverse after you installed these springs? Since i have done mine i have had a hard time getting or finding reverse....is there something i can adjust to correct this issue?
@ksisjdm5 жыл бұрын
No I havent had an issue with reverse at all due to the springs. It was harder to get into reverse when I my shifter cables were gunked up with dirt. Clean cables and it's a breeze going through all gears and reverse.
@MoJoNinjaGarage5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that info sir.
@PGChillin234 жыл бұрын
I’m having the same issue. Just installed mine and it’s a little difficult to get into reverse after. Has it changed over time? Others have told me it just has to be broken in before it starts to feel smoother.
@ksisjdm4 жыл бұрын
Not really, you just get used to the extra effort you need to get into reverse. The stiff feel grows on you

Are these the race or sport version springs?
@ksisjdm7 жыл бұрын
Alex Thompson these are the race springs
@hagggle37277 жыл бұрын
I've got an 08 FG2 and was thinking about the race springs because most people on 8th civic who have installed the sport springs have said how they wish they would have gone stiffer. In your opinion are the race springs tolerable for daily driving?
@ksisjdm7 жыл бұрын
Alex Thompson yes. very much so. it's not uncomfortable at all or unreasonably stiff. I'd recommend the race springs. I have a ktuned tuned race spec shifter in my car as well which is already pretty crisp and it still feels much better with the mtec springs installed.
@hagggle37277 жыл бұрын
Childstar Just installed the race springs into my FG2 last night and it's total night and day difference. 5th, 6th and reverse take more effort but it isn't anything bothersome. 2nd to 3rd is like butter as you said. Thanks for your help, I'm loving them so far!

how many times does it click? like how many times the arm shifter is supposed to move ?
@ksisjdm7 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you're asking here. I'd like to answer and help
@dorianarana7 жыл бұрын
I installed the the shifter back on, and moved it counter clockwise to engage gears, to make sure it moves the shift forks Inside
@ksisjdm7 жыл бұрын
The counterweight should only move forward ( towards the front of the car), back (towards the rear of the car), up, and down.
@dorianarana7 жыл бұрын
yes yes, that's what it does exactly but I hear it clicks a few times and that's my question does it matter how many times it clicks?
@ksisjdm7 жыл бұрын
Oh i see, that's just the normal engagement of the gears. Nothing to be worried about. When a gear isn't perfectly lined it, you'll hear more than a single click as you engage the gear.

Hey last question I'm looking for both those springs and wanted to know your opinion on which of these brands are the best for you (Top two) Speed factory, MTec, hydrid Racing, or Acuity
@ksisjdm4 жыл бұрын
100%honest, they are all the same springs. Same quality and strengths. Some of them sell a race version along with a standard spring which is simply a higher/more stiff spring rate. But you are getting the same quality from either company. None of them manufacture the springs themselves. So I would purchase whatever you can find the cheapest.
