DIY - Kseries SHIFT/GEAR SELECTOR 👈(TRY THIS BEFORE ANYTHING!!!!)

Two days ago, my car suddenly wouldn’t go into gear. Apparently, the bolt inside the gear selector mechanism became loose and fell into the transmission, which I’m going to try to retrieve with a magnet. Now I have to gather all the pieces and reinstall it. This video was really helpful on showing how the mechanism works and how to put it all together. Thanks a lot!

Best tutorial I could find thanks for the whole break down I just put in my springs and my fourth gear is really hard to go in I miss placed the washer the one thats on The spring itself I put it on the shaft By mistake

Hey man, great video, used this one to do mine. Noticed your switched out your gear selector little mechanism. Noticed mine were a little chipped, thinking of getting it replaced. Not sure whether I should run OEM or Speedfactory, which one did you use to replace? Thanks!

If you can afford the speed factory one, then definitely get that. You won't have to worry about it wearing down

I recently bought an RSX base and decided to upgrade the stock shift springs to Mtec ones. After reinstalling my shiftier selector I am having problems moving my shift stick side to side. wont move up and down and I've triple checked to make sure all the parts are there. Has anyone else had this issue while installing Mtec shift springs / am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated!

Did you end up replacing the shift selector? I replaced all the springs for mtech springs and have lots of forward-backward slop in the shifter. It makes it feel really imprecise.

What happens if you install it backwards? I ask because after replacing my selector spings on my FA5 I hear a hissing sound when I let off of the clutch. Sounds like a bad idler pulley- but its not bc I replaced that and the lower pulley and the pcv valve. This sound is driving me crazy!!!

It's been awhile; but this is something to do before diving inside and opening up your transmission if you are having gear selection issues.

Hey so I recently replaced my shifter spring and I had it in gear. So now it won’t let me shift into 1, 2, 5 & 6th gear for some reason. Is there any way I can fix this? Would I have to mess with the shifter fork?

@@mondecruel1866 yes, it was the transmission detent spring that I installed. Supposedly I stripped the spring and the skew ball, so I had to go to honda to order a new set

I did this install with dentent springs and from 2nd to 3rd at high rpm it wont let me shift fast did I install shift selector wrong?

Check to make sure your shift cables are ok. Its best to have someone shift through gears while watching the shift linkage. If you still have issues only while its at HIGH rpms it could be clutch or synchro related.
