This may motivate students to apply for Ph.D. even with low GATE scores. I had 329 GS and had belong to the OBC category. I had applied only at 4 IITs i.e IITB (Centre for Machine Intelligence and Data Science), D (Yardi School of AI), K (Space Science and Astronomy), and GN (CSE), and had received an offer letter from all 4 IITs and will be joining IIT Bombay. I was a direct Ph.D. student (Ph.D. after BTech), my GPA was 9.24 (till 7th sem) and I had 1 year of research experience at TIFR Mumbai during my BTech along with 4 papers (and few more works in progress). Note that GS only helps you in getting shortlisted (at almost every place people qualifying GATE are shortlisted. Hence, even general candidates with such low GATE scores will be selected at many places), rest it all depends on your performance in tests and interviews.

Easily Man, I got into IITB for direct PhD even after having very low GATE score and here you already have MTech with you + 3 times GATE qualification (MTech doesn't requires GATE qualification)

Bro, I assume with 36 marks you must have qualified GATE. If so you can easily get into IIT/NIT for PhD provided you perform well in tests and interviews. Kindly check my comment wherein I had shared my experience

Sir I have Btech percentage 79.14 and unfortunately didn't Qualified Gate exam. So, I am thinking to do Mtech in Electrical Engineering. Is it good to do with Private University.
