Loving the content! My favorite mtg content creator by far! At 31:40 , couldn't you have blocked with Orah and priest and have Orah's lifelink put you above 27 so that valkyrie would give the team +2/+2 so your creatures wouldn't die in combat?

@Kel'Thuzad Nope, lifelink happens before state-based actions are checked to see if a creature dies due to lethal damage. Therefore the +2/+2 bonus would already apply.

Not to discredit LVD but competition isn't exactly putting in anywhere close the effort LVD does. Most are barely edited/curated stream vods with maybe an intro to badly explain the game plan of the deck

The only way to play around it is to slowly build up your collection through rare drafting. If you spend all your gold on Quick Drafts every new set, you will eventually get all rares from this set, and 60% or more mythics. If you do it for a year, you will get a full playset of rares when rotation happens. This allowed me as an F2P player to play every deck I want to play (I even managed to get most of the cards in Historic with spare money, but I played since day 1).

Spent the last of my wildcards to make this deck and I've been having a blast playing it. It's clearly not a meta contender but when it gets going this deck feels amazing to play. The shenanigans Orah and Pyre enable are the most fun I've had in MTGA.

I'm impressed with the incredible amount of synergy and recursion this deck has! EDIT: Ignore the below, Pyre of Jeroes can only be activated at sorcery speed :( makes sense as it would be too powerful against targeted removal One neat interaction I noticed was at 16:34, where you could have held full control and sacrificed Skyclave Cleric to Pyre and grabbed Vito with the lifegain trigger on the stack to deal 2 additional damage and swing for lethal that same turn :)

Spent most of my wildcards to build the deck - long term fan of BW Clerics (since Onslaught) and immediately preordered myself a Pyre for my Orah commander deck. Really liking this deck. The disciple sequence that you can do with Orah and Pyre can be really suppressing - sac Elderfang to fetch Demon Disciple, sac Demon Disciple to itself, get Elderfang back, repeat next turn. For 2 mana the enemy keeps losing a creature and a card from hand while you get more CMC 3 clerics in your graveyard for future use.

What I'd change is mostly the selection of 4CMC clerics other than Orah - In about 20 games I was never able or wanting to cast something exiled by Draugr Necromancer and never got to the point where Skemfar Shadowsage would heal / life loss for more than 2 or 3. I think Mangara would shine where Demon Disciple's removal isn't effective (many creatures), Glorious Protector is a flyer with some utility that can work nicely with ETB triggers and even Vengeful Reaper could do more to drastically change the battlefield by getting rid of a big attacking creature or just flying over blockers to keep a planeswalker in check.

At 31:40 if you blocked everything your life total would go above 27 turning on the +2/+2 buff and you could have spared most of your creatures this way. I discovered it by chance but when the lifelink enables the buff the creatures get it before checking for letal damage, this way they survive the combat even though the moment they hit they would be smaller

Match 5 often you could have blocked with your lifelink creatures, as you'd go up to 27 health and they'd gain +2/2 after damage is dealt but before statebased removal happens, so your 3/3 would take 4 damage and become a 5/5 in the exact same moment. Like at 31:41 you could block with everything.

Really love this list, I made clerics when Zendikar came out but the deck felt like a bit of a jumbled mess between sac effects and lifegain. Pyre seems like the perfect card for the deck and maybe I didn't waste those wildcards.

Magic Duels did it automatically, although those ratings were pretty inaccurate. I did them manually for my MTGO videos, but most decks are difficult to classify accurately.

How about fiend artisan in place of pyre in this deck? Ignoring the dies to removal argument, the ability to sacrifice to find anything in the deck seems a decent option, especially opposed to pyres restrictions. Additionally, enough stuff is in the grave here to be a sizable threat on its own.

Nice deck, just love to see not only Orzhov Clerics with the same lifegain meta, but something really unusual and working well. Doesn't Tergrid really shine in this deck with so many discards and sacrifices by Disciples?

Could be decent although doesn't have a useful creature type. The main challenge with Tergrid is getting to untap with her and therefore needing to get value the turn you play her.

Great Pyre deck, I was waiting for one. The absence of the snow dual land is because it would slow down the curve? Also, I don't feel like Drana is doing much, I'd rather play a second Valkyrie. It seems that Valkyrie is more beneficial in the average board state, while Taborax and Vito need more setup.
