I have been playing with a similar deck for quite some time now. I did not care about the meta, bc I would enjoy it so much. It axtually works in ranked standard. At least easily for into silver. Some decks dont know what to do against it - at all. I have put baneslayers, 1 angel of destiny & one vito into iy as well for a lategame win. Sideboard has doomskar and a res card in it. And I have some alternatate cards here and there too (rally the ranks...). Banish for enchantments is really helpful against some decls too. Great video, enjoyed it much. Firjas retribution is so good.

Appreciate you walking us through the decision on whether to include a triome vs a temple in a 2 color deck. It's perfectly logical with castles, but I feel people overvalue the cycling when they are playing aggro for example.

Angel control from back in the Eldritch Moon Duels days was how I first found this channel. I knew LVD was legit when he gave the people what they wanted: the Brisela fuse animation. Here’s to many more years of content 🦀🦀🦀

Okay I watched the entire "Angel Control" video, and while it was nostalgic to get a little taste of Duels again, I did not see this Brisela animation. @@alexandernathe1467 and this is why the card is toxic. Every game is decided turn one or two due to complete rng. In historic bo1 it's particularly bad. Thoughtsieze is the only thing keeping me playing rn.

@@Verd254 I've run into the deck only 4 times - each time they either wiffed or I head an instant answer to their big spell, which made them concede instantly. it's just a huge waste of time to play against it. but I find it even worse in Draft! three times now, did I draft Kaldheim, and each time the pack I got to look at first had Tibalt's fucking Trickery as mythic, which is complete ass. I don't play historic - not enough wildcards - but I imagine it to be a bit easier to have answers? except for Ulamog, I guess that's worst case.

If you enjoy playing elspeths nightmare, I recommend trying to pair it with vorinclex. Both chapters the turn you play it feels pretty good

Be me: Put together carefully crafted list of interesting synergies with scaling impact to carry me from early to late game strategy. 5 consecutive Rogue decks on the play. Nothing resolves after my first land hits the battlefield, twenty five minutes later I am told I lost a game I never played. Thanks WOTC, you unconscionable screw-ups.

Would Poison the Cup work as a better removal spell than the sacrifice one/Heartless Act in this deck? The kill anything + ability to Scry + pumping Devourer (like all spells anyway) seems like a nice way to ensure your draws are what you want. But hey, I'm not nearly as creative as you, so I'm sure there's a reason it's not included :)

@ LegenVD Any thoughts about swapping in Valkyrie Harbinger somewhere? Maybe instead of the Legion Angel, if both (the one in hand and the one retrieved) are cast it gets you two 4/3 flyers for 8 mana (with 1 more retrieved angel remaining in hand) while a Harbinger with the Righteous Valkyrie in play for 6 mana immediately (end of turn) gets you a 4/5 flying lifelink and a 4/4 flying vigilance while healing for 9 (triggering the 27 life effect if at full) with the potential of generating more angels in the future turns (the effect is each end step so we even get angels if blocking). Or is it just too slow?

It has potential, but I would want to pair it with the Lifelinking Valkyrie to give us more enablers. At that point the deck looks quite a bit different.

Duress for control match up. The other 2 Heartless and Nightmare for rouges. Lantern for graveyard hate. Maybe ECD for slower decks with big win cons like Ugin. Maybe a couple of Glass Caskets to go with the extra Heartless for aggro.
