I feel crazy for suggesting this, but do you think Chandra, Bold Pyromancer could work in this deck? (from the Dominaria planeswalker deck). She actually seems pretty good for what this deck is trying to do, since her +1 gives you 2 red, and she can protect herself by going -3 to deal 3 damage.

If you throw away the budget status and go 2 colors, Nexus of Fate works well with Jaya. Treasures get better so Brass Bounty a good inclusion and works with Apex of Power. Izzet and Jump Start make Jaya even better, because her rummage ability is filling your graveyard with castable spells (kind of) even if you don't hit her ultimate. It's still hard to see her being mainstream good in Standard, but 6-8 decent Jump-Start spells has the potential to make her much better. I feel it's possible that the only Standard playable Jump-Start spell will be UR so start saving up those pennies for a pricey UR Manabase boys and girls. WotC has officially acknowledged were not in spoiler season, it starts Monday. Get some sleep this weekend, Dev. You ain't getting sleep for the next month.

Hey Dev, I tried this deck out on Arena and HOLY SMOKES. This thing is crazy. I didn't have any of Apex so I subbed in 2 copies of Hungry Flames. I know, Hungry Flames isn't rotation-proof, but it was reeeaaaal nice having that quick little creature and player/Planeswalker burn. Great job on these videos! I look forward to the next!

The First Eruption and Tormenting Voice might be decent choices. The First Eruption is basically Catalyst Elemental that kills Llanowar Elves when it enters the battlefield, and may end up sweeping the board. With this approach I'd play it creatureless. And I'd run some Flame of Keld for mid-late game.

Something like; 3 Eruption, 3 Voice, 2 Keld. And then -8 creatures from the deck (probably the goblins and the elementals). Then -4 Lannery and replace with: 1 x Jaya's inferno, 3 x Treasure Map

@@testsignupagain7449 yeah that seems like an excellent idea with Treasure Map and Jaya's Inferno. I'd do 2 Kelds, 2-3 Voices and possibly 3-4 Eruptions (definitely a number to be tested with). And same thing with your choices too, like 1-2 Inferno and 3 Treasure Map seems perfect. It would totally be a Mono Red control. Cool thing about Eruption is that you don't actually NEED to sac your mountain in the third chapter which is very nice versus control decks.

I feel like Treasure Map was an obvious miss for this deck. Scry and eventually ramps you 4 extra mana/extra card draw is probably better than a 1/1 body that might block a couple of early damage, but more than likely just dies to a Chainwhirler next turn. If you’re really worried about early damage, Fiery Cannonade might be a good 2-of.

I did a deck similar to this, but Izzet and control based to slow the game down. The blue was primarily for removal, counters and most importantly The Mirari Conjecture. Gets an instant and sorcery back and on its third stage a kicked Fight with Fire gets copied and deals 20 damage to the face out of nowhere. Very satisfying.

If we're going for a burn strat, why not consider Demanding Dragon? It's not very expensive and the turn you play it (assuming it resolves) your opponent has to take five or sac a creature, plus giving us a 5/5 flyer. It's just a really good bomb that I think this deck should consider having a couple copies of. Sure Jaya can't cast it, but we got a few ramp pieces besides her that will work. Another card that I'm not entirely sold on, but might be decent with the Wily Goblins, is Skirk Prospector, as getting more mana value out of the Wily Goblins by sac'ing them for red mana after a block or later in the game for a massive spell just seems like something that might make it worth having a couple copies. Again, I'm not entirely sold that Skirk yet, but it's worth considering since it basically can let our Wily Goblins be 2 red mana on the board instead of only one with the Treasure Token. Also I feel if we go with the Brass' Bounty approach for ramp, I would rather have a card like Revel in Riches as a win con as you could easily just win in the late game if it doesn't get countered, but I feel that's against the spirit of the deck.

I have been trying a rotation proof budget burn deck and guttersnipe can work really well. My build is less mana-hungry without the Apex, doesn't use the ramp creatures, and has doublecast, primal amulet and flame of keld as the "engine"... everything else is the typical burn spells. The deck takes a bit to set up, but it gets to a point where even a shock can be a finisher (6 - 8 damage easily, potentially up to 16 if everything comes together).

Hey Dev! Discovered your tube a couple weeks ago and I love your analytical videos. I'm a lover of red burn decks and here's a take on a cheap one with cards I got at home. Maybe you can try it out and tell me what you feel? It got tons of draw options and wins with burn combinations of Flame and Sniper. Gutter Flame! Creatures 4x Fanatical Firebrand 4x Viashino Pyromancer 4x Guttersnipe 3x Captain Lannery Storm 2x Goblin Chainwhirler Spells 4x Shock 4x Lightning Strike 4x Warlords Fury 4x Tormenting Voice 3x Fight With Fire 3x The Flame of Keld 1x Jaya Ballard Sideboard 1x Fight with Fire 2x Mutiny 3x Hijack 3x Fiery Cannonade 3x Shatter 3x Banefire Cards I consider (and own) that might get a slot are: Blasting Cannons against, Demanding Dragon, Primal Amulet. More Mutiny or Hijack against mono green or monsters/angels etc. Mutiny is a very very good card in my opinion. One of those and a shock or lightning strike can help kill the largest of creatures. Or just Hijack and swing.

I think you could free up spots for either treasure map or azor's gateway. Gateway is a bit of a nonbo with jaya ult but the upside is you could go off a bit quicker. 25 mountains seems a bit much would a 2 of arch/field stretch the mana base too much? I think this is a deck that would want the first eruption since the mana base is mainly mountains over the elemental. Assuming you would sac the elemental the after you untap on the next turn anyways TFE controls the board and ramps which seems like more upside than CE.

Doublecast may be good against control where you can use it on Banefire. It might be helpful if control keeps countering Fight with Fire. Guttersnipe might be a good body to have as well given how many instants and sorceries we have in the deck. We don't have anything for dealing with enchantments. I don't think we need it though?

Tormenting Voice ?! seems made for this deck, esp. with Jaya's Ult … may also allow us to play some of those 'dead' cards, as we can pitch them if they are indeed dead at that moment.

I have something like this sleeved up with Chandra right now and Jaya fight with fire banefire etc. And chainwhirlers with insult and a buttload of burn. I also use 4 of the flame of keld as well so the fight with fire and chainwhirler sometimes ping super hard. Double cast is insane I 100% agree. My rakdos burn deck that basically became the rakdos hazoret this summer used Vance's blasting cannons for a while and I gotta say while being a bit worse than Chandra it is super good, very similar to phyrexian arena with the brutal flip sealing away games. Demanding dragon may be a great creature for this deck btw.

What about treasure map? Not massively expensive as far as i am aware, and it seems to do everything the deck wants to do... it'll scry a bit for you; keep your draws honest. Then about turn 5-6 when you're ready to cast the big stuff it'll flip over into a land (and give you some free treasure). But we're not done yet, because any treasures you don't need for mana can be turned into extra cards. And did i mention that this has great synergy with lannery storm and the wily goblin? I definitely think the deck benefits from playing them, especially since we're moving into a format where abrade will no longer be a thing. If it were me I think i'd play 3, probably cutting 2 catalyst elementals & one land to make room (the 25th land feels less important with a source of scry in the deck) Just want to finish though by saying Nice deck! It looks super fun to play, it's coming at the opponent from something of an unexpected direction, and it definitely feels like it's got enough power in there to compete

No Jaya's immolating inferno? With captain lannery and jaya herself out in play its usually always able to be cast and that spell does some serious work. I run that plus a couple of Squee so i can never not have a legendary to cast.

Nice deck, looks like it could function very well. But I feel like the Catalyst Elemental is too much of a clunky card to make it to four copies or even to be included in the deck. I'd cut Catalyst to 2 copies or cut it completely and replace it with Guttersnipe, which can do much more work in the burn plan. Also I get that everyone really hates this card, but Chainwhirler could be a great utility piece and it would be a shame not to play it in a mono red deck.

Also, a lot of people suggested playing Jaya's Immolating Inferno, but i'm not a big fan of this. It doesn't work without Jaya on the board and even then... To a burn deck it often feels like a Banefire that is a mana more expensive and can be countered. I'd include a copy or two of Primal Amulet. Not more, because it still is just a do nothing artifact when it hits the board.

Hey dev! Love the decks! So heres the thing. I actually built this mono red jaya deck myself. I started out with mono red ramp in mind running wily goblin, Skirk prospector, banefire, etc but after extended play i found the deck worked better as a mono red spells deck with dismissive pyromancer, guttersnipe, and all the cheap burn with vances blasting cannon for a mid game reload. The deck just functioned more consistently and didnt require me to play crappy creatures to try and enable a ramp strategy that never came together consistently. Sorry for the long winded response. Keep it real homie!

Primal is just too slow. Most games youre using your spells the first few turns to make sure you dont get run over by their early creatures. Id rather have vances blasting cannon to provide mid game card advantage and late game reach.

I personally love treasure map as a card and it will always do a great job of filtering your draws and providing you either ramp or card draw in the mid game. Id consider it as more of a sideboard against more controlling matchup but certainly a very good card

No Primal amulet or Guttersnipe? Or even double cast if you are going full burn then go full burn. I think there isnt really enough cards for a real tier burn deck yet however the closest I got was a U/R Primal amulet Minnari conjecture deck but that used insult to injury.

- A lot of people in the comments mention Treasure map, but might Primal Amulet be an option? It's expensive but it allows you to go from Jaya into Fight with fire right on the next turn. Also, If you eve flip it over, your burn spells become absolutely ridiculous. it might help against big green creatures. - Jaya's Immolating Inferno might be another fun of. The deck doesn't run 4 Jaya's for nothing, and Lannery storm is legendary. On the turn after Jaya, hitting 3 targets for 6 damage can be totally crazy. - Also, could Detection Tower be a worthwhile addition to the mana base? It could help hitting Carnage Tyrant among others - Finally, Based on the GOR spoilers, Runaway Steam-kin seems like a possible addition. It could fill the role of Catalyst Elemental, but be more effective. I'm planning to play a deck like this at FNM for a while. If anybody has any comments on my possible additions, let me know.

Why not play flames of keld (the saga). The discard effect works really well with Jaya and all your red sources doing more damage is really good for a burn deck

Maaaan, I was trying to build this deck earlier and now I just feel unoriginal. But seeing what you consider for main board definitely pushes what I would like to do Edit: since you pass it to us, while making this deck I ended up making it Izzet for unsummon and dispersal just for slowing down my opponent while I set up Jaya and my burns. Made double cast a lot harder but just throwing my bit in. I think this deck needs time to fire off completely, and bringing in the blue just lets do that.

deck needs a lot of pieces. I played it with chandra and went 2-10. it constantly floods, loses to cats, gigatosaurus and vampires, not to mention all of the tine aggro decks. I feel Jaya is just too sensitive sometimes and its rough having to use burn spells on creatures that you need to send to the face. I have hope though. Jaya is an amazing lady and i hope she takes Big Red to it's deserved place among th estars in the seasons to come.
