I guess you're right, Prof. I was a little salty because Vintage Masters Common Downshifts were back at Uncommon or weren't in the set, keeping the divide between Paper and Online. But EMA did indeed reprint many expensive staples, and downshifted some VERY interesting things. Certainly seems worth getting excited for Pauper Masters.

The list is all right, if a bit weenie centered. In addition to those mentioned the ones that stand out to me are: The other flashback cards, Desperate Ravings and Sylvan Might The fatties, Prowling Pangolin, Emperor Crocodile and Avarax (ignoing brainstorm shenanigans he's basically a bigger Squadron Hawk/smaller hastier Aurochs herd) and finally, the most obviously playable new common in eternal masters: Night's Whisper- Functionally it's very similar to Sign in Blood/Read the Bones but it's more splashable than SiB and less mana than RtB and it's a good effect that you might want 9-12 of anyway(Sign in Blood also targets, which can in rare cases be relevant)

Besides the Elvish Vanguard being dropped from rare to common, the downshift I'm excited about the most is Wildfire Emissary. Good body and abilities for its cost, while it won't drive people to make new decks around it, I'm sure it will find a home in numerous decks.

This is a great point, but the most important aspect of Magic for me was the social interactions and community. The collecting and the playing aren't enough by themselves to keep me into the game. As a result, MTGO falls flat for me, with its heavy emphasis on mechanics and the near absence of any implementation of social features. I still have an account but I don't access it often. Pauper is similarly affected by my preference for social engagement. It is not currently as well established as Modern or Draft, the formats I previously enjoyed, which are both costly hobbies, and I do not have any personal friends who play. Thanks for the comment. A video on the cheapest format is probably not the best place for me to talk about why I can't play because of costs but I just wanted to express my appreciation of the Professor's great content, which continues to grab my attention over a year after I gave up actively playing myself.

Have you ever thought about popularizing pauper commander? It's a not very well known format that I think deserves more attention, as it is much less expensive than normal commander and has much more variety. If you need more info, gameplays by clonehead does a lot of gameplays for wired but super fun formats like horse magic or big deck.

The wait for some cards is too long at that point, and if format is popular it brings more players, increasing demand so they would need to reprint a set again in the future, and seriously wizards have enough of money from printing cardboard.

Wakedancer was already a common from Conspiracy =P I think that Undying Rage might help some versions of WR Heroic and MABYE Sylvan Might will fit some Infect decks, but the card im looking foward is Emperor Crocodile... I mean hes a strong card for his pure stats and might help a list of mono G ramp that uses the untap abilities of the stayr and the elf i cant remember the name. And i hope that Prowling Pangolin replaces Gurmag in mono B control =)

Any new or largely unexplored format with a large card pool is a good place to brew decks. If you actually want to play those decks or create a metagame, either some amount of popularity or an adventurous group of friends would be necessary. If you want to buy cards for your decks then something inherent to the format which limits the number of expensive cards would of course be a blessing.

Gruul Guildgate, and the Khan life lands are Common dual lands. Then there are the Ravnican Guilgates and Karoos. So, Wild Nacatl and Kird Ape will be just fine.

Dual lands refers to a land with both basic types like Stomping Ground rather than a land that can produce both colors of mana like the gain lands or guildgates.

BIG BIG differance between cloud of ferries at TWO mana and peregrine drake at 5, the super easy and fast combos you can do with CoF is silly easy compared to how slow and inconsistant doing the exact same thing with Peregrine drake (not to mention the combo that made CoF broken was partly based on it also being a ferrie, something that this Drake is not.)

The best format buget of MTG is: Sacola. You need build your deck until U$ 10,00. Is very fun and you need creat a new strategy and choose the correct cards.

The only "dual" land I could see in pauper, I think is a nonbasic land type, that has a basic land type, and produces mana of other land type. Is confuse as hell, but its like, "Volcano Woods", that is a Mountain that don't produces red mana, but instead, green. That would be good in decks with cards that "lands matter", could be fetchable, would comes in play untapped and be limited in the deck. Kinda like a Mistveil Plains that only produces blue mana, and so on...

I think the duals from Tempest and Kamigawa (CITB untapped, tap for colorless, don't untap for 1 turn if tapped for colored mana) would be fine at common. They would help the decks that needs good duals the most, the aggro ones, while being almost always worse than other current options for control/midrange

The dual lands from Khans of Tarkir block and the Ravnica bounce dual lands are the 2 most played dual lands in Pauper. Some people used to use the Guildgate lands from Return to Ravnica, but Khans lands are 1000 times better.

I agree with you guys, but what I'm proposing is more focused on the subtype of the card. Like a card that have the subtype island but produces black mana i.e. That way you could, lets say, cast a Kird ape turn 1 with a land that is a Forestbut produces red mana, making the Ape a 2/3 when cast. Of course these type of cards should be Non-basic, and wouldn't be fetched by an Evolving Wilds, but they would have their advantages.

There's a simple clean way to make common duals with the basic subtypes. Have them enter tapped. Always. Not "tapped if you control fewer than two or fewer basics" , not "tapped unless you pay life". Just, for example: WU-ville Plains Island WU-ville ETB tapped. It's simple, clean, and as long as they develop land search and land maters cards within Standard with them in mind, not overly powerful. Most of the time they'll be just like the Invasion Taplands. (Domain itself of course being one of the few mechanics that would care about the difference) If that's what you were trying to say then I apologize for missing it, I just didn't see it. (note that having a basic subtype is enough for a land to produce the related color of mana, but to be a basic land requires having the basic supertype.(Wastes for example have the basic supertype, but do not have a basic subtype. They produce as specified by their oracle text.)).

Keep it legal for the other formats, but out of Pauper? *hint hint Wizards* Anyways, a huge thank you to the Prof for introducing me to Pauper with the original set of videos. It has changed the way I consume Magic, it going from a thing I used to play once or twice in a month, to something that I now play every night (or thereabout) on MTGO. And this set will bring a surge in interest from old and new players, almost guaranteed.

Since the release of Eternal Masters thru today, Sunday, June 26, there have been 27 decks running Peregrine Drake that have 5-0'ed, according to the data off the mothership. In comparison, Desperate Ravings, which is the second most played "new card", has only been played in 4 decks that have 5-0'ed, Elvish Vanguard has only been played in 3, Avarax in 1, and Rally the Peasants in 1. No other "new card" from Eternal Masters has 5-0'ed. I imagine Peregrine Drake will be banned soon. It is broken.

Yeah, I don't understand the hate for this deck. It was my favorite deck prior to the banning, and IIRC the reason for the banning was more to impact U Delver, not destroy Familiars. This seems like a correction to that in a way that doesn't also still help U Delver.

+Kitt Schlatter it was banned because of the familiars combo deck, not delver. I'm not sure where anyone was getting that idea. it will most likely get banned as it's way more fair in delver. check the jan 18th banlist announcement if you don't believe me.

U delver is way fair than the familiar combo honestly, that's why there is no cloud of fairies, I guess since the drake cost more, the familiar deck is not going to be as busted but if the deck gets too restrictive again it might get the ban hammer once more.

+Manuel Aguilar Tirado see i dont really think it's worse. first off you have an extra creature to reduce the cost (all though it's possible they just cut black to make it more consistent). so it's going to be more consistent, either by having 4 more mana reducers, or one less color. it's not like the deck was going of on turn 2 anyway. and secondly doing the combo out will be much faster on mtgo because you get 3 extra untaps per cycle.

The Real Viceroy Actually, you're right - sorta. I dug up the old announcement, and the main reason sighted was that U-based decks were rampant, and they wanted to allow other colors to shine. Because of that, Cloud of Faeries was on the chopping block. What I find interesting, though, is that they never cited the Familiars deck as being too strong, unfair, or unfun to play against; rather, they were more worried about how popular U strategies were and Familiars happened to be the most popular of them. It'll be curious to see what they decide to do going forward, because I highly doubt the down-shifting of Drake was an accident or an oversight.
