The best bit about Harnessed Lightning is that you choose how much damage it deals as it resolves, not as it's being cast. So your opponent doesn't get to respond to your decision, and has to play any combat tricks to save it beforehand, at which point you choose to either save the energy or use enough to overcome the creature's new toughness. Absolute headache for the opponent.

These are all cards I'd be happy to have in my draft deck. The only one that isn't as obvious as the others is Aether Theorist - Turns out scrying is very good in limited, when you're looking to make an inconsistent deck more consistent. And good for finding your bombs and removal in the mid to late game

Aether Theorist is sooo good. Really like you can scry basically every turn if you have the energy, and if you don't 3 energy is enough to play in any deck.

Funny story, someone at my prerelease played dubious challenge, it was a 4 mana for both players gets a good creature. Aka, don't play it. "Make obsolete" makes amazing plays, I was blown out by it when I used a 1/1 and tapped it for a 6/1 haste trampler.

I have done three drafts and of the 3 drafts combined, I have had 2 dubious challanges and a madcap experiment. And all three some one to to the left or right has pulled a nissa. One guy in a draft I wasn't in pulled a Rashami and a foiled saheeli Rai.

I drafted on the Release Friday, and the rare in my first pack was dubious challenge. I picked Unlicensed Incineration over it, as it was clearly the best card in the pack and I ended up 3-0 with a sweet rr/b deck.

Harnessed lightning is basically lightning strike, very good. Also no love for subtle strike? That card fixes combat for you in a way you win most of the time.

Best green uncommon easily longtusk cub nearly impossible to block if followed up with any energy guy preferably thriving rhino and it gets bigger from hitting.

Limited late game relevance, isn't removal, doesn't guarantee you anything. Nature's Way is definitely better and it'll be useful at more stages of the game. Being versatile and valuable at every stage of the game is a part of being "good."

+TheManaSource natures way should probably be picked over cub but the way the cub punishes a slow start from your opponent is insane. I still think thriving rhino is the best common because if played on curve it's likely to win the game unless your opponent can answer it.

HWoodModelling it's hard to pick a multi color card immediately because of how it forces you into those colors or at least one of the colors. U don't wanna do that pack one because then it'll go all wrong

I'd first pick Salivating Gremlins. It's better than Brazen Wolves in this format. Also, Impeccable Timing is about as good as Pillar of Light(?) from Shadows over Innistrad, and the big finishers are better than in that format, so I wouldn't even consider Impeccable Timing for a 1st pick.

If you tap a card for its effect then you cannot stack a crew on top of it. u must choose which u want, but it's worth pointing out that birds doesn't crew for anything with 0 power.

If you can bounce the creature your opponent chooses with something like Eldrazi Displacer, you get both creatures. Also, in Modern, you can choose Flickerwisp and any other creature, and no matter what the opponent chooses, you always get that other creature.

just sayin' best white uncommon is surveillance (or as I like to call it, the kaladeshi PATRIOT act) its splashable, it protects you on offense, and is a lifesaver on defense. dont underestimate surveillance it wont it is a lifesaver even if it cant win the game by itself.

Gold Cards (Multicolors) are usually not that great as a first pick. You can rarely tell if you're going into one of the colors, even less both. And Brawler is not good enough too splash for him or force gruul for him.

Granted, draft is supposedly faster than sealed so my thoughts might not translate, but I was wary of vehicles too. Needless to say I got a skysovereign in my pre-release pack and it was good enough for my opponent to turn into a pissy sore loser about it when I won the game with it ;)

Every rare/mythic vehicle is great and easily first pickable. The only reason I would ever pass one is if there is a straight bomb or unconditional removal in my colors (and never pass a flagship)
