@Windowlick_3 жыл бұрын
You might think that until you play cube games against a control deck with Capsize that eternally bounces your lands, or a creature deck where they spit out a bazillion Sprout Swarm tokens. There's a good reason why Sprout Swarm wasn't reprinted in Time Spiral Remastered, it single handedly wrecked original Future Sight draft. Buyback as a mechanic is really poor because it causes really repetitive gameplay like those.

You might not like my buyback deck (my friends call it my F-You deck because it is basically a total shutdown deck). Limitless fog, bounce, and counter spells. Swing… no damage. Tap to hurt me? Bounce it forever while it has summoning sickness. Direct damage spell? Countered. Life drain? Nope! You have to kill me in 3 turns or less or you risk being locked out of the game. Also: it wins by making you draw out your deck. It has Library of Leng in it so I can manage my hand and keep what I want while putting discards on the bottom of my library, meanwhile everyone is drawing between 2 and 10 cards a turn. It is basically designed to be a limitless draw deck.

Jon Finkel Top 8'ed 1998 US Nationals with Whispers of the Muse, Forbid and Capsize in a mono blue control deck ... does that not count as a Top 8?
@matthewutech59703 жыл бұрын
As stated at 1:51 , Nizzahon count top 8s of Pro Tours, Mythic Championships, Mythic Invitationals, Legacy & Vintage Championships, Grand Prixs, and Magicfest *only.* As such, not only are nationals not including, but 'lesser supported' constructed formats like Pauper and Penny Dreadful, as well as limited/sealed events, are also not counted; if they were, alot of past top ten list would probably be a bit different.
@TheMajesticYak03 жыл бұрын
I ran a blue control deck back in the 90s that used both Whispers of the Muse and Capsize. The win condition was actually just Mishra's Factory. It was nothing but counterspell and bounce effects plus Larry Niven's Disk to wipe the board while I built up my mana base enough to abuse Capsize and just bounce their entire board, especially their lands.

Okay guys can you clear me up with this (because dont really get by Nizzahon wording) so you use the original cost it goes to exile then on the same turn you can pay again for the buyback cost? Can you play a later turn or you have to do it in same turn? Is it stay forever in exile for the recast? Its kinda confusing ngl.
@robman1023 жыл бұрын
If you pay the normal cost of a buyback card it just goes to the graveyard. You have to pay the additional buyback cost as the spell resolves and you can't pay that cost later compared to say dredge where whenever you draw you can choose to dredge instead. Buyback cards don't exile they just go to the graveyard ( unless the cards says otherwise).
