Same, i had a mono black deck with 4 dauthi slayers, 4 skittering skirges and all removal (terror, dark banishing, ...) good times!

DAMN! this brings back high school memories, black shadow deck was my favorite deck i have ever built, this was what I ran with Dauthi Trapper and Phyrexian Splicer to give my opponent's creatures shadow, then clean out the floor with Dauthi Cutthroat, Dauthi Jackal, Diabolic Edict, Dark Banishment, etc, which would then pump up Dauthi Ghoul.

There was a lengthy period of Ravnica Standard where one of the best decks was a BW deck that played a ton of Spirits and used all of the Kamigawa Spirit stuff to maintain advantage - even Soulbond, thank you Thief of Hope - with Ravnica Orzhov spirits as the top end (Ghost Council at the top of all of it, which gave the deck the name Ghost Dad), that ran 4 Tallowisps which could search basically all of the deck out besides Dark Confidant and Teysa.

I like the shadow keyword. Was expecting to see Thalakos Seer but oh well, this card is nuts today in Yuriko decks, a near unblockable creature that draws you a card when you ninjutsu a creature in for the Seer? Awesome.

One of my first MtG deck was a blue Shadow Creature Deck, the Thalakos 🤣 Created using junk cards from a friends pile Sucked so bad but it was fun to play back then Slowly upgraded it with counterspells and then finally got a Morphling as a finisher 😍

i have a deck that is shadow creatures, lotus pedal, dark ritual, hatred, and tutors(to find hatred). i also use a card called curse of leeches cause life leech is good in this style deck and can be played turn 1 with dark ritual. the deck can legitimately win on turn 3. hatred is a card that u can pay x life to give a creature x power. if opponents taps out and leaves themselves vulnerable it can be the kiss of death. i also can use disturbed burial if my opponent is heavy on creature removal.

When Ravnica was new I built a casual deck that used Shadow Rift to make my Wee Dragonauts pumped and unblockable, it was the first time I tried to build a dedicated Cantrip deck and it was just so much fun to build and play, thanks for the memories

When Soltari Emissary was first used competitively, Glorious Anthem hadn't been printed yet. Are you sure you haven't forgotten any other early white mass-pump enchantments?

The Standard top 8 he mentions was in the 1999 US Nationals, which occurred after Glorious Anthem was printed. It was played in a White Weenie/White Lightning deck by Kyle Rose that ran both Crusade and Glorious Anthem.

I played a black aggro deck with shadow creatures and played Hatred as a finisher. Could win as early as turn 3 with a dark ritual.

Having watched BoshNRoll's daily eternal magic videos, I knew in a heartbeat what would be #1, but was interesting to see how the tech uses of the others each had in their time in the spotlight. And even to this day I still get a bad feeling seeing Mr Big Teeth (aka Psychatog) but glad to see there's a somewhat successor to that deck in Pauper with a card I didn't think would be so strong until seeing this video.

Since we got a super pushed Dauthi in the Voidwalker from a MH set, I'd hope to see a really good Soltari from another set. I guess you could make a Thalakos too, but iirc, they were a much smaller faction in the lore and neutral. I do enjoy callbacks to old lore that are from less well known parts (ie, not Urza and his legacy, which has been done plenty).

Dauthi Embrace, B 2c. Enchantment. pay 2 black, target creature gains shadow. I had my commander Yargal 18/6 out, gave it shadow with Dauthi embrace, pumped it up with vines of vastwood kicked, and swung for 22 commander damage and killed a dude in 1 shot.

Ah, shadow. The reason I stopped playing (even kitchen table), because it was utterly obnoxious unless you spent enough money on Tempest boosters. As a teenager who had about one booster's worth of money to spare per week, I decided I'd rather develop an alcohol problem.
