recently i just found out that most collectors value the centering grade the most for Display reasons, so Overall it is the most important grade, although we as Players/collectors cant really do anything About it other than having luck!

The worst part about having 3x 10's and then one lower grade, with the lower grade being "centering", is that the centering isn't something the owner can have any power over. The corners, edges, surface, etc. all can be affected by how careful you are with the card, keeping it as pristine as possible, but centering is all on the factory!

I don’t get why centering is a thing. It should be about the condition of the card itself, not how the factory prints it.

I get the controversy, but they're trying to prove a "pristine" card. But yeah, I think they should be more lenient when it comes to quality control on WOTC's part. Any sort of failure on the part of the manufacturing equipment is the fault of the company. Any set that had flimsy, misprinted, etc. cards should get some sort of pass, because that's what the company made, low quality junk cards that are otherwise "pristine". I'd go as far as saying that they should base their grades on a set by set basis. So if one release had no example of a perfectly center card (whether due to early printing equipment, or just bad quality control on modern cards), then centering shouldn't even matter because the company did not produce any such thing. If you're familiar with coin collecting, then you should know that for older coins, it's basically impossible to have a "perfect" specimen because one such thing does not exist (or if it does, is either lost and buried somewhere or hidden by someone for some reason) and that collectors will value the next best thing. *tl;dr* *As long as the card is not damaged from external environmental factors, centering doesn't matter at all.*

I prefer PSA. You can do a bulk order for $7 a card. Also from my experience PSA grades harder than BGS.

PSA and BGS both have that info on their websites, as they are VERY specific how they want submissions. From memory they want card sleeve, soft flexible plastic sleeve, then wrapped in bubble wrap---insured for the estimated graded value of card(s) both ways.

Nice! I have a card I’m thinking of grading which has good centering on the front but poor centering on the back. I’ve heard they don’t weight the back as much. Do you know anything about how they grade centering for that kind of thing?

I don’t understand their formula for grading... if a card has 10, 10, 10 , 8.5 that is a 9.625 average therefore they should be setting it to a 9.5 grade... so weird lol

They're not all weighted the same. The centering, for example, might not be as important as the edges. So, it counts as a smaller proportion of the grade.

At the end you say the grading should be about the quality of the card. I think you are talking about carddamage not the overall quality, because centering is a part of the quality. Of course it is "unfair" that we dont have influence over the centering, but that doesnt really matter regarding the grade. Besides that, those pop 1s and that black border pristine are pretty neat:)

That's a hard question, 10's probably 100 - 150 but that's a guess. people list them much higher. 9.5's depends on the card really most cards sell between 30 and 40 dollars.

Yeah after finishing the video it just makes me so frustrated with BGS. It's like you said, these are mint cards no matter how you slice it. Centering should count for far less. But they've established a criteria and now they feel they are stuck to it I guess? These cards are gem mint to 99.99999% of people. Having 10's next to an 8 centering making a card an 8.5 is just...

I love Unlimited, its my favourite set but does it really worth to grade? there are millions out there... most of the cards cost cents. That's why there are so low population because nobody grade Unlimited commons.

Yes, certain cards... is weird. For example I bought Sol Ring from Unlimited, near mint condition (not yellowing) signed by Mark Tedin 15 dollars, its a beauty. But tried to get Earthquake, one of my favourites cards and I didn't see any copy (in good condition) below 30 $...

Yes! Grading Scavenging Ghoul if your willing to wait at $8 is worth it. (sending in 100 plus cards) Just at Grade 9 mint you can get 25$ for it. So the value is there. Getting a higher grade means more money. However, I want a high end graded set so I keep the bigger grades.
