Is fabrication foundry even good here? It only adds white mana, only ever ramps to smithy (on curve), and doesn’t trigger synthesizer. I don’t think the recursion mode is good either because you have to exile something with the same mana value as the thing you recur and nobody is playing single target artifact hate

I think the two main options to replace it with are The Irencrag or possibly Oaken Siren. Irencrag has the downside of being legendary, and the siren has the downside of being a creature with small stats, although it is an artifact so it dodges go for the throat at least.

I'll never understand why people play control decks in BO1...Like the dimir deck game 2. l mean you do you boo but your either hoping you have the right awsners in the deck or praying you draw them in time.

Ive been playing the UR version of this in the previous standard, but i think red removal is just not standing up to power creep these days. A straight WU version of this is the avenue im thinking of going once standard settles down from rotation.

Reds removal has been power crept and is probably the strongest it's ever been in Standard. it's just red is supposed to have a hard time dealing with larger creatures. It's literally a feature of its color pie.

Absolutely is a feature of red, but the 1/2 mana removal used to be able to deal with a greater proportion of the 2/3 drops. @@TheEvolver311

"red isn't supposed to deal with big creatures" that's the problem like OP was saying though. The power creep includes the fact that more and more efficient creatures are becoming bigger than red removal - even as power crept as it is - can deal with. Like even if you're on the play, if your opponent plays a turn 4 sheoldred, chances are you are either 2-for-1ing yourself and/or spending all of your mana the next turn to remove it with red removal. And with rotation we lost a couple of the better red spells that could deal 5 damage to a creature.

If you're using Weaving for the copy, wouldn't you be better off with 3 blind mice?

Plus the other modes on weaving are pretty helpful in some matchups. I do think I might prefer more Three Steps Ahead over Spellgyre or all 4 copies of season. Like most of the time it's just cheaper than gyre for countering, and sure the card draw mode isn't as good, but it's still very reasonable. Plus being able to draw cards and counter, plus it also being able to make token copies of your artifacts just feels like it should be valued higher in this deck.
