Yeah, plus the threat of being able to use it would be huge. As soon as you got to enough mana, you would be threatening to cast it every turn. It's like getting a benefit every turn even if you don't cast it.

The fact that it has flash at all makes it allready so much better. You can keep your mana open for counters, and if youre opponent has a bad turn, you can flash it in. I am very sure it will see some play in control decks

Heartflame Duelist is coming in to a standard with a lot of Brotherhood's End and some Burn Down the House, so it seems like a really great way for boros to lifegain their way into the late game. Might be enough to make Koth + Chandra + All Will Be One strategies viable, or Virtue of Courage/City on Fire/Arcane Bombardment.

1) Boros control is going to be a thing with Heartflame Duelist. It could gain you a TON of life with Brotherhood's End, and you can splash black for Archangel of Wrath. The Boros manland is also great, and could easily close out a game. 2) There is a very strong core for Jund with Mosswood Dreadknight, Questing Druid, and Bloodtithe Harvester on 2, with Gix + Glissa on 3, and Sheoldred + Decadent Dragon on 4. Add in GFTT + Edict + Virtue of Persistence for removal.

I am pretty high on Decadent Dragon (and not just because it's got art from one of my favorite recent magic artists), but it's card advantage, a well-costed, evasive on-curve threat that can ramp & mana fix for the spell half. I mean it's no goldspan dragon (thank god), but I think it's very solid. Also the possibility that it makes jund playable in standard is exciting.

Honestly between Charming Rogue and Goddric, I think mono red aggro is getting a pretty substantial buff with WoE. We'll see if that's enough, but those are auto includes in the deck I think.

I disagree, while they are good cards they do have to compete with Bloodthirsty Adversary, Lightning Strike, Invasion of Tarkir, and Feldon in the two drop slot. While Charming Scoundrel offers flexibility. It is also a great way to being blown out by Cut Down on a chapter 2 of Kumano faces Kakkazan. Meanwhile. Mono red plays either Furnace Punisher to punish multicolored decks and their manabases or Squee because Squee is recurrable. Overall, I think they are solid cards, and may end up in Mono Red builds depending on the meta, but I don't think they move the needle for Mono Red in Best of three Standard.

I’m honestly going to not play standard until something really changes it (another B&R update, etc.). As a green mage, this standard has honestly been terrible. Hearing Seth and Crim’s comments on Green makes me wonder what’s the point of playing when you’re not enjoying it. Maybe Ixalan will be better.

One thing I'd say in virtue of loyalty's favour - it is more fizzle proof than other virtues. If you are running the virtues as your wincon, then getting fizzled is a problem. Plus you are on a clock to get them into exile to protect from hand disruption, so waiting for a safe casting window for the adventure is tricky.

One thing I like about The End is it hits *any* creature or planeswalker. We'll be in a format where there are a few ways to turn lands into creatures. The End exiles "any number of cards with the same name as that permanent". You can even exile your own creature land with it.

Seth - Here is a line with the Fox - Flash hitting your own Thalia from a kill - cast a spell that was being taxed on your side or hold mana to let's say so brevity sake you are able to later sac the fox and mana tithe your opponent and gain two life in addition - def some tricky things you can do - or your own Loran or Farmhand or Doggo to double up - maybe even play in a double triggers deck (apparently the mana tithe thing doesn’t check out but still some tricky stuff you can do)

Did anyone else realize that you can actually sacrifice this fox while the trigger is on the stack for the exile and end up permanently removing an opponent's creature from the game as you gain the two life? Could be a good emergency removal spell against graveyard decks.😮

@@dac2007 Actually it sure as heck does! lol. Even if it didn't have flash, it would work because there's no tap. The way it works on the stack is like this. YOU MUST HOLD CONTROL/PRIORITY FOR IT TO WORK. You flash it in. The trigger for exile goes on the stack and you target a creature of your opponents. Then, STILL while holding control, you set the sacrifice trigger and sac the creature. Now you release control. They can save it by bouncing it now since they can interact, but if they don't, what happens is the trigger resolves in reverse order. So the game will see this: release from exile the creature, oh there's no creature to release, then okay, now we need to exile the creature, and it get's exiled, your fox is in your graveyard and the card you targeted is gone forever because you can't ever release it later. It's kind of "stack abuse" but it's very doable. I've done this for ages in pauper with Kor Skyfisher + Ephemerate and Journey to Nowhere. you have a Kor Skyfisher in play already, then you cast a Journey targeting opponents creature, before it resolves, you can ephemerate your kor skyfisher at instant speed, it will then bounce the journey back to hand and try to release the exiled creature before the creature ever gets exiled, then it will end with the exile trigger last and exile their creature but since the journey is back in hand and similarly not on the battlefield anymore, they can never get back their creature. it's an old and dirty trick, but it totally works, I assure you.

@@kats7930 no, you are wrong, there's no trigger to release from exile What happens is if the Fox is not on the battlefield when the trigger resolves, nothing gets exiled Try killing a Leyline Binding before it resolves and see what happens What you have done for years worked differently because of how old cards are worded, now they have fixed it so you can't abuse it. And it's good they've done it.

I guess zoomers don't understand the power of creature lands. But they're always good in standard because they can win games post sweeper or when both players are in top deck mode. I guess they're slightly less good these days because decks rarely run out of gas. If you always have something to do then you just never have time to animate them. So how good they fully depends on how good control is.

@@bluemage1 I don't find Sheoldred to be a problem at all in standard. The only colour that doesn't have a cheap instant speed answer to her is green and that's a 5 colour deck anyway. There's nothing that needs banning in Standard. The balance is great right now. They just need to print some great mono-green cards (which Eldraine unfortunately doesn't look to be doing, given that the good green cards are just more 5-colour cards)
