Thank you SO much! Finally an easy to understand explanation of this. I have been wondering for a while, now, but not found a helpful answer.

That abbreviation always looks like a curse word to me

Yes, it does 😅

Yep. When I first saw it I thought to myself that it stands to reason that there is a gene associated with being a Mo'F'r. And the conservative estimate is 50% of the population.

Does Methelyne Blue have a positive or neg affect on people w MTHFR mutation?
@JonasKuehneMD9 ай бұрын
You may be a bit more sensitive to its effects, but generally it would be positive. Most of the methylene blue will be excreted unchanged. Therefore, it does not need to be methylated. This is, of course, not medical advice. In my clinic I always recommend to my patients to start with low doses and titrate up as needed. Personally, I only take 6 mg in the morning on five days a week at the moment.

Am messaging this to a friend, I think he was going overboard using Thorne’s ‘megamethyl plus’ or some such name. Amounts Way too high. For me (a lightweight/small person) one cap of this product will help simplify a few of my separate supps.

Yes, with a fairly balanced diet, one capsule is plenty in my opinion.

Can this gene deficiency also occur with aging?
@JonasKuehneMD Жыл бұрын
No, it’s from birth on

Can not being to methylate start at any time in your life? For instance, when I started menopause, my whole digestive system went from good to bad. My health went downhill from that point.

The genetic defect is inherited and present from birth on. Absorption and methylation can decrease with age, but not to a large extent.

I think one of the issues may be that you are not absorbing nutrients well due to an upset and inflamed digestive tract. There are a few things that can be responsible here. Gluten (from wheat products mostly),FODMAPs, Sugar alcohols, lactose. I usually recommended to try an elimination diet free from these four. You can then re-introduce one at a time and wait a week before introducing the next component.
