MTI Racing Meets The Mercury Racing Midwest Challenge

Celebrating 50 years, Mercury Racing has made the most of its golden anniversary in 2023. Yet nothing the Fond du Lac, Wis.-based high-performance engine and accessories manufacturer did this year compared to the Midwest Challenge, an action-packed, two-day offshore and tunnel-boat race showcasing its product on the shores of Sheboygan, Wis. Also celebrating a milestone anniversary this year-No. 25-the Wentzville, Mo.-based Marine Technology Inc., came into the Midwest Challenge with several teams racing MTI catamarans in the promising outboard-engine-powered 450R Factory Stock class and one team racing an MTI in Class 1 and another team racing one in Super Stock.
The only “open to the public” event celebrating Mercury Racing’s 50th anniversary, the spectators, sponsors and race teams clearly enjoyed the Powerboat P1-produced event featuring American Power Boat Association and Union International Motonatique sanctioned competition. This video, which is sponsored by MTI, CTS Custom Trailers, Shaun Torrente Racing and TNT Custom Marine, takes a closer look at the competition from an extended weekend in Sheboygan as well as the crossroads of two formidable high-performance marine brands.
