@mannys91303 жыл бұрын
@@Blackwater_House Serious question: is this true or are you using hyperbole to make a point? I know that contrary to many Americans' belief, Australians still have guns and many hunt and compete, but I've never heard about storage discussed before. If that's really what you all do, that is intense. How do you store a revolver? Do you need to remove the cylinder and crane to separate them from the frame each time you lock it away?

FYI, you can fit 1,000 loose 9mm in one of those AT30 cans. They are now selling the 4 pack crates as Bass Pro and other places. Haven't had my for very long. I got rid of my plastic cans many years ago and went with all metal cans. I liked this crate and wanted to try it out for range purposes. I might even remove the middle two cans and store other items in the middle to simplify range days.

My hubby has been working on reloading primers and has spotty success. Those chems can be dangerous to experiment with. Major primer manufacturing facility said they will no longer produce primers. They don't care if we have guns if they can squeeze the ammo market. All this makes me sick.

I really like these trays but in the set of 4, with the plastic “cans” being the traditional .30 caliber size. I get the minis for lightweight for the range, but think the larger .30 size are more practical for storage. You can also get the largest size shown here in a set of 3 in the same type of tray, and then put the MTM 100 rd snap lid boxes inside those on end. In fact MTM used to sell that setup as a combo with the big box and a set of the 100 rd boxes with it. For that big of a box, unless it’s shotgun shells, loose ammo will quickly get heavy. This way you can quickly grab a couple 100 round boxes and go. I’ll have to think about adding this “5 mini tray” set to my pile, appreciate the review! 👍

Plastic is air and moisture permeable. Use the metal cans with new gaskets. If the kids are damaged or beat up, get new lids and gaskets. Rural King makes brand new ones and they’re less expensive than the plastic ones.

I just recommend you order a pallet of M2A1/ M2A2 ammo cans from Clean Ammo cans. Great deal. Last order I placed, with freight to MT, we were talking under $8 a can for legit, American steel cans. Sorry, MTM is decent stuff, but just cant take a beating. Apply some Dow/ Corning silicon grease to the gasket and it is as good as new.

Nice idea. My problem is that I would need 8-10 for 9mm only, not because I have too much, but because I have that many different manufacturers, bullet styles, different pressures, etc. That's why I do not dump my ammo into cans. I keep them in their boxes. Same goes for all my calibers. The 50 Cal cans look useable for me. Do they make the caddy for that size also?and can you stack the caddys on each other as well?
@jdminn43 жыл бұрын
I love these MTM crates. The smaller cans are easier to manage and let you bring more of a variety (mix n match). I also use them for seeds, parts, gardening/orchard stuff (e.g. pruners, labels, ties, etc) and general garage stuff.

These are definitely not for long-term storage of anything you want to keep away from moisture. I've had my 5-crate mini for about a year and can confirm they ARE NOT even close to airtight or watertight. Large desiccant packs added to the boxes are bright pink, meaning saturated with moisture, inside a week despite being kept in a bedroom closet. They are also not the best carrying any significant weight. The latches fail when carrying anything more than about ten pounds. They would be fine for the purpose suggested by Sootch. A single range trip with several kinds of ammo.

Question: having accumulated ammo before and during the shortage, is it better to leave it in the small cardboard boxes with the little plastic separators, or unbox it and dump it into ammo storage boxes such as this MTM product? I know that original packaging is good for reselling, but ammo isn't something I'd resell.
