Your comment is not constructive, if your individual economy is doing great what is the need to become an economic migrant in a foreign country? Ninety percent of Ghanaians or Africans who travel outside the continent are for economic reasons nothing more or less. There is no equity in the system, and if you're been hit very hard you just have to have your last prayer and give up the ghost.

All governments across the globe are actually corporations that are set up by western powers to create profit for their employees and the West. The goernments were never installed to take responsibility for peoples' well-being. However, since they exist, it's down to the people to hold them accountable, especially when these entities try to implement foolish policies which are actually for their own benefit. Here in the UK, the United Kingdom is actually a corporation - a limited company. The information is available on the government website. Checkout Ghana too!

Ghana is heaven or Africa is. Let me explain, the Africans or Ghanaians saying they want to get out of Ghana, 1) has not experienced racism ever in their life. 2) They think what they see in the movies is what America or Great Britain is. Example is how Americans portray Africa as poor and starving people with big belly, this is because that is all they have seen of Africa. The reverse is Africans don't know what is really like in the west, they think they can go and start living the American dream which we know is false with lots of obstacles . There has been a mind drain for centuries so for people to believe in movies and stories is eay to see. I met a guy from the US living in Ghana during my travels to Ghana and he told me it was only when he relocated to Ghana was the 1st time he made money and that was when he had $500,000 in his hand as his free and clear from his businesses. So imagine if we bring this vision to Africa or Ghana and reserve the brain drain. When you see The Chinese and white people move to Africa to develop and make it their home, that should tell you what is happening.

Richesses resources the continent has,, Why do the poor people, struggle to meet the needs of their end? This is the thing many people still don't understand Who is stealing Africa's Wealth? Why and How? to answer the question let's go back over a century ago to the Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪 Conference 1884 -1885 Europe /France and the United States 🇺🇸 / UK 🇬🇧 seats on the table to divide, colonized, exploits all minerals resources from the continent, Created authoritarian's regimes Who threatened private citizens by design, the trades Civil War if their interests are threatening, today the Western world and European Union/France no longer plays War because China 🇨🇳 is present, sense of conflict of interest but destabilization by other means, 90% Of Africa economy profits the Europeans /France and the United States 🇺🇸 /UK Until right now, the continent can not defend itself as the number one "Division among itself or nations minds their business". I love the conversation, we should take into account the reality of economics survival for many black nations not just in Africa but throughout the world. Many of our people have no idea of the existing economic structure that keep our nations poor and dependent on the west, it is not by accident but design. The only options left to many of our young ambitious population is migration to the west for greater opportunities. I am also a product of this destructive force called, economics exil. It smashes families and communities irreparably, and most nations benifit from the remittance rewards.

Tim, this was a good video to watch. However, let me say this, that there is a tribe in Ghana, the Kwahu's; who don't complain about unemployment or the lack of essential amenities in the country and yet they are prospering. You see when a person doesn't know what to do, no amount of money you give them will make a difference. Look at the land mass of Ghana, the mineral and human resources; yet we cannot feed ourselves. How naïve can we be when we borrow money against our anticipated earnings instead of the actual income? To then go a spending spree of buying and building flyovers all over Accra, is the worst form of thought a people can impose on themselves. As we struggle to meet our budget and expenditure requirements, we have become the laughing stock in the annals of prudent economic management. The young lady should use what is in her 'hand' to start a business and she will see how she prospers. She just need to make the first step. My sister, people like you in the west are living from pay cheque to pay cheque. Meanwhile, youtubers and social media influencers are making it. Be creative, your part of country is very beautiful tell the world about it. Be creative my dear. Take your first step.

@@globalcitizen740 Hello Global Citizen, I am disappointed that you have misunderstood the thrust of my message to the young lady. I wasn't condemning her but rather, trying to encourage her to be grateful for she has and make use of it. The education system in Africa and also the West only conditions us to go and work for somebody or climb the corporate ladder. Look around you and you will see that all the people who run my country and yours, though I don't know where you are based have made a complete mess of it. Therefore, if the young lady's assumption was she'd rather be in a prison in America than be in Ghana then she is naive because the middle classes like her in America are living from pay check to check (cheque). They also have a huge tuition loan to pay off. So you see the grass on the side is not always green as we think.

The African American Experience in America is slightly similar to the Ghanaian experience in Ghana: you are not respected in your home country, whereas someone can come from someplace else and get the ability to start businesses, get the benefits, and get the privilege that people born on that land can't get. AND THEN sometimes people who travel to those places and get those benefits think the indigenous people are somehow lazy without understanding the Dynamics that are spoken of in this video.

Nice interview, Africa is transitioning from subsistence agriculture to rapid urbanisation, most governments are playing catch up,with the burden of low taxation and crippling foreign debt, not to mention neo colonial interference to their sovereign policies. We are saddled with our political leaders because the post independence generation that wanted to change the way things where, got kicked out.if they had been allowed to industrialise and modernise our peoples, we would be like Asia.growing our own food and better educated. And in better at business. So if we maintain pressure on our leaders and educate ourselves in the things that will advance our peoples we will eventually get better leaders, but if we don't have continental unity in economic and defence policies we will be at the mercy of external forces who will divide us and exploit our division.

Visiting on holiday and spending more money in one week than someone earns annually is not an accurate representation of the country. Most people fail to realize that. The young lady expresses what is commonly understood among many Africans, but not voiced so explicitly. As an American with residency in Ghana, I can see both sides. The problem with Africans are especially Ghanaians are our mentality, colonial education system and self attached to tribes.1.. the colonial education system taught us to feel superior over own people, be self centred and attached to your tribal people. 2.. A Ghanaian mentality is to depend on the government especially when they're educated for jobs. 3.. the Ghanaian hate transformation, modernisation and sacrifice. And they love to stick to a political party as long as they feel the party belongs to personal tribe. The Ghanaian hard to think outside the box and know that even the political party is even deceiving them.4.. the Ghanaian hate to sacrifice for the betterment of all. These are the stuff disturbing Ghanaians.

I found your platform very interesting. As a black man from the Caribbean, I see some similarities between this Ghanian lady's demeanor and many women in the Caribbean. My Parents descended from the Ashanti tribes in Ghana. This woman is suffering from the colonial mentality, she has never been exposed to racism based on her color of her. skin. The difficulties she is facing are very similar to that of students in the Caribbean in finding a job. The reason for that is that the British who govern these colonies, never prepare the students to be self-sufficient after graduation. They were taught to be dependent on the government for their livelihood. This woman lacks creativity, she should learn to be creative... learn to create her own job. Nothing is given to her on a platter. Black people in the west in spite of the racism they face in Western society have started their own businesses out of nothing. African women should learn to do the same.

Many African women do have their own businesses. Most are farmers or "petty traders"(market women), many sell cooked food, others do hair & sell cosmetics and others tailoring. Those are very competitive and the money isn't great. Others have a job and do these other roles as "side gigs". It's very tough and that doesn't appeal to everyone. Then there's the added pressure to get married and have children - which can effectively kill many women's aspirations.

Some of what she was saying about not getting a job in agriculture is a lie, and it's not surprising considering the part of Ghana she comes from. It is rather the current government who has brought in policies to employ people in agriculture than the previous government she said. The previous government actually had no specific policy to lure the youth into agriculture unlike the current government who have been practising planting for food and jobs policy as well as planting for food and export policy

I am really enjoying this video I subscribed a while ago but I have not really had the chance to watch many videos. My husband is from Ghana I am from the US and when I visited Ghana four years ago I fell in love with it and can’t wait to make it my home. We are planning on moving there permanently the Lord willing in a few months. I also do not understand why people want to come to the US so thank you for having this discussion it is opening my eyes a little bit to why. I don’t know if you will see this and be able to answer this question that I have you talked about the Obruni privilege and I understand what you are talking about but what can I do with that privilege to be able to help others who do not have that privilege? I have already had in my mind one example let’s say I’m in line and may be because I have the privilege they pushed me to the front but there might be someone else who has been waiting a long time and really needs to be in front of me I would gladly allow that person to take my space. That is just one example I could think of which is why I’m asking what is the best way to use this privilege to help others? I hope you will be able to help me have insight thank you very much for all your doing

As someone who's planning to repatriate to the continent in the next few years, this is very helpful because I want to bring value to my brothers and sisters. It's nice to know where they think things are lacking, so that I can know what areas I'd like to offer assistance. Educational grants are definitely at the top of my list. With the total cost (for four years) of undergraduate studies in Ghana being approx $3k USD, I am prayerful that my husband's and my organization will be able to work towards helping in that area very soon. Selling Africa's raw materials to other continent without increasing the value of the commodities is a waste of reasouce and productivity. Not having electricity when project for electricity has not been completed and other opportunities to electrical power is available all over Africa. ie coal, solar power plants, hydroelectricity power, etc. Most African countries should have 100 percent electrical power. This is necessary to have industries and manufacturing thus good jobs and excellent education systems. Africa does not have access to other continent's markets and most African nations do not produce products other African nations want to buy. South Korea was much poorer than most colonized African nations many decades ago. But they took action that was productive capitalistic and business minded. They recruited too business advisors from around the world, made intelligent goals and implemented these goals to make fast progression in their nation.

Yes Ghana is developing everyday and you can see the progress in places like Accra and it's Metropolitan cities. And it's true that the people in Ghana are some of the best people in the World to be around. Unfortunately the Job employment might not be the best, but because of those situations they are more prepared to go abroad and be very successful in countries like the USA because of their work ethic. And because of their laid back culture and friendliness, that the main reasons so many people come to Ghana for change of environment. It's not about whether they have the best roads it's more about having peace.

What she talked about on the education is based on her age and experience. To most of these people life started with Rawlings and nobody else. They are unaware that there was a better education system before Rawlings came to the political scene through his coup d'tat. The 3 year SHS system Rawlings brought to Ghana has been a disaster in terms of preparing students for tertiary training. They come out without even able to write and spell proper English let alone speak it. The government that came after him saw the problem and decided to change it by adding 1 more year to the SHS calender which was even less duration than what it used to be before Rawlings changed the system. There was a marked improvement in the students output at the tertiary institutions when the extra year was added and this will be confirmed by any of the students who had that extra year by their ability to write. Unfortunately when Rawlings party regained power in 2009 under Atta Mills, they changed the duration to 3yrs again just for political reasons rather than empirical evidence. A headmistress in Cape Coast who bad mouthed the 4yr system but praised the 3yr system was exposed when over 90% of her students failed in the school graduation exams when the time was shortened to 3yrs

Very insightful, although sad. I am from Chicago and now live in Texas, and I think I understand why he moved to Ghana and feels comfortable. Blacks in Texas have been raised in an environment so racist, for so long, that they have developed a tolorance and acceptance of unequal treatment. The conversations I've had with life long residents here left me astounded. He should do a video of why did some blacks remain here during the migration north period for many other southern blacks. I moved here in 2015 and it was the first time I'd heard of "Juneteenth" a holiday celebrated here in Texas. I found that Texas slaves weren't aware that they had been freed with "The Emancipation Proclamation" for several years after it's passage. From my understanding, even then many in this state were still treated and conducted themselves as such. Lastly, a little advice. Try not to laugh as your guest answers your question of the bad things about her homeland. Additionally, you don't have to speak so glowingly about the amenities you had access to during your schooling in America. Especially not right after she says how little they had to work with. She demonstrated that during her travels, she wirnessed other students with more. Be a little more sensitive. Be a better listener. She says jobs are scarce and you ask why can't they buy a car and get their own apartment. She explained they can't go and get loans to start business. As she stated "were would we get the money or collateral"? From her explanations I totally understand why they could come to America and do well in their studies without all those obstacles. I want the young lady to know that I totally get it and thank her for enlightening me.

@Edward Thames: Knowing the history, I never thought that celebrating Juneteenth made any sense. I guess people are lucky that Texas wasn't able to hide the news of their freedom for ten or twenty years because those "people" would certainly have done so.

Blessing, to you and the sister. Hearing the conversation brought much to light and mind. Iam from the Afro Caribbean Island of St Thomas, we have a lot of similarities like in Ghana and afrika. Our light go out from Time to time , we eat the same foods, we wash cloths on our hands and are more afrikan culturally than others in America this is a fact. Our time zone difference from ghana to the islands is only 4hrs. They have lied to all of us over the years to keep us from connecting as a people. The major issues and problems in Ghana and other parts of Afrika is caused by white colonialism, to this very day. A change must take place. The diasporans can help, because we understand the ways and logic of these colonial masters and billionaires that have lied and stolen a lot from our people and afrikan continent. Life in America is not a bowel of sweet fruits, you may work for a little money but the economic system is set up to aid the white Americans and Europeans over the colored human elements in its states and territories. There are a lot of negative ills that as a person of color you will have to put up with. No one wants to express the racism, and white nepotism in the business and ecconmic society of the USA.. the black man is not respected in the American society.even the black woman is placed above or separated from her afro male. There is an agenda to remove the colored women from the afro male by uniting her to white homogeneous males in marriages as a way to white out her race as an afro type an she believing it's so nice and beautiful praises her white colonial master's son as a demi God, while the afro type is forgotten and made to seem as lesser in her site but it's an abomination in the site of her maker and scripture from elohim Yahuah. Blacks are killed and then the white justified their claims in their court of law, while the colored people March and riot in their society for righteousness. Afrika is the land of milk and honey as spoken in the historical scriptures. This is the truth not fiction. Our people must know the whole truth not part of the truth. The education system in Ghana and afrika is not like the American system. The system of education in Afrika is on a higher intelligence plan. Remember it was through histories it was always the afrikans who were the givers of knowledge to the earth, not the Europeans or Americans. The greatest minds are found in the afrikan continental lands to this very day. Life in Ghana is harder due to the white colonial masters rules and laws that they placed in the parliament books and so the economy and afrikan society is hurt and place in a latent back word position, to keep the people and its economy from social and economic development and growth.. The political leadership in the country of Ghana are used as colonial puppetry ; a toy for the billionaires. because of the corruption of the none pan afrikan mind set of the afrikan leaders for white money.. They the leaders have allowed the colonial white masters to be worship as demi God's . So how can the Ghanaian experience economic development and wealth in the various fields of work. The billionaires and the colonial masters, wants all afrikans dead so they can have the the lands resources for themselves so this why they would love for the afrikan to leave and go elsewhere to get a little money while they put their tiger claws in the economy and resources and afrikan women with their white seed, so they can white out the race of the afrikan lands. Afrika has it all, for natural life, but it is suppressed . A spiritual radical change is coming, but the people must not give in to the wickedness and corruption of the leaders who are bought by these white billionaires agenda. This why they use vaccinations as a tool and weapon to achieve their agenda. I hope these few words will spark a spiritual mindset for change. The diasporans can make a big difference for many in the Ghanaian society and other afrikan states. Iam giving assistance to my afrikan family in the area of university eduction as we speak here. Remember righteousness exalted any nation. Shalom, my sister and brothers. Be careful who you trust.

What I'm noticing is that with all the issues and problem we africans have to develop and push africa to greatness we seem to put energy on the topic of homosexuality. Chinese and Indian's boosted their economic development without distractions from issues that have nothing to do with their culture. Africans need to stop getting distracted on alternative European lifestyles and focus on making africa great.

America changes its rules in the worst ways! People are serving decades in prison for Marijuana possession. Now it's legal. You used to vote using various forms of ID that were friendly to students and the elderly, now that's changed and those demographics are disenfranchised. These issues are more serious than high school tenure changing in Ghana, especially when the rule applies to everyone equally. Crack cocaine for Blacks, high crime, powder for whites, little or no crime at all. These pale in comparison to the Ghanaian issues they raised. That said, however, I can't understand how so many western countries became rich off the resources and the literal backs of African people, but Africa, the richest continent in natural resources, can't figure out how to grow its economy and become its own super power. This boggles the mind!
