I just brought one and installed in my buggy with a 19T 5mm pinion. The old 3652 3300kv motor did 63k/h on 3S with a 17T pinion. When I tested it it did 71kh which indicates my motor is around 3300kv not 3800kv so yeah like you I will just gear up to a 23T pinion to get about 80+ k/h 50mph.

I have a Traxxas Rally 4x4 Roller for Asphault only that im building with a 54T spur, Max10 SCT and looking for a Motor that can get me at least 50mph for street bashing without thermal shutdowns. If the true kv is 3400 that shiuld be fine since im looking for a motor in the 2900-3500kv for 3s batteries. Im gonna give this motor a whirl. Thanks for the review.

Just tested a 3650 4300kv Platinum series. Got no-load current 5.2A instead of 2.7A specs. Heats up very quickly.

Does the match the rated kv?
@pavlomaksyutenko33014 жыл бұрын
@@LawrenceTimme I measured ~4000kv at 11V with an oscilloscope. The 5.2A was also at 11V. Do they specify I0 at the highest voltage?

@@pavlomaksyutenko3301 it will have been done at 7.4v the current will go up with the voltage but the kB should stay the same as long as the temperature is constantl

You got a bad one. Mine pulls just under 3800kv @ 4 amps. I did run 2 packs through it then clean and oil the bearings before going on the tester.

excuse my ignorance but shouldn't we test the motors at 8.4 volts? when fully charged 2s lipo has nominal voltage of 7. 4 volts but fully charged it would deliver close. to 8.4 volts isn't that right? 7. 4 volts should be close to lowest voltage. delivered by lipos when operating an rc?
@LawrenceTimme9 ай бұрын
It doesn't really matter as long as I test all the motors with the same battery at the same voltage. 👍 When running an RC car the cut off is normally set to 3-3.4v per cell which is 6-6.8v on a 2s.

Bro another great video, really enjoyable facts n info... that's a Awesome looking motor. I've got two (red can) surpass motors... both feel like their missing 500kv... I'm not too impressed with them. ✌✌✌

Though i can appreciate this info for future knowledge when lookin to buy another motor, but the old saying : you get what you pay for : and that still holds true and at the price these motors sell for id say your getting exactly that, otherwise there wouldn't be brands like castle creations,hobbywing,trinity and etc all of which cost considerable amount more because there giving quilty and whatever there claim to what motor/esc can do, just making sense of the results but also if the motor is 3500kv they should've just said that and called it 3500kv platinum, funny thing is if you look on castle creations website there recommended motor for 1/10 monster truck is 3800kv not exactly sure if also 4wd but definitely know thats what they recommend along with proper gearing which to me means its almost not the proper kv but then again its rated for 2s-3s and esc quilty ive learned makes a world of difference in regards to how a motor performs in the vehicle used in. But definitely love the inside info keep up the good work.
@LawrenceTimme4 жыл бұрын
@@4077661466jp I don't think so, after testing the actual performance of the motor in my truck it out performs the hobbywing 3660sl 3200kv by a long way.

hey man can you chech if you can advance timing in the esc with this motor?. can you check the timing on the motor?
@LawrenceTimme9 ай бұрын
You can't change the timing on this motor. It is fixed 👍 you might be able to change it via the esc, but it will have to be plugged into the esc to do that, the motor tester can't change it.

Enjoying the tests. Pretty new to RCs but just replaced my first motor from a Arrma 3s with the Surpass Hobby 3660 3300kv (orange can). Although it does feel a little less punchy down low the motor runs smooth and has plenty of top end zip. Runs well on 2s and 3s where my stock Spectrum engine cogged like crazy so much it refuses to run on 2s once the battery gets below 75%. For the cost of the Surpass motor I'm super impressed. Can you tell me if I was to got one with a 3670 can but similar KV to what I have now would that add a bit more torque? Thanks
@LawrenceTimme3 жыл бұрын
Yes. You would have more torque
@LawrenceTimme3 жыл бұрын
You might want to try going with a bit lower KV and a bigger pinion too. Like a 2650kv

My surpass platinum spec sheet says 100amps max. Is that how much it will draw??? Im trying to determine the draw to tell if i can use a deans plug. Hobbywing max10 doesn’t recommend a deans. im trying to sort this all out and figure what my system pulls. Ty for any info from anyone.
@LawrenceTimme3 жыл бұрын
No, that is the maximum A the wires inside the motor can take. The current draw depends on the gearing a weight of the car.
