Brought up from 1940 in Linden Grove to leaving the IOM in 1956 to join the Army, this was our playground. At one time one RN officer was Billeted in our house, Commander Hall, I think, and one of his crew hand carved for me an MTB which I launched many times in the boating lake on the Promenade.
