Some trivia: Mick Jones of The Clash was originally part of GP when they first formed from the ashes of The Beat.. Mick then decided to form Big Audio Dynamite..

Saw General Public play in 1985 in Santa Barbara at the Arlington theater with Scott Previance. I was 18 and a freshman at UC Santa Barbara. Good times.

The tenderness was originally recorded in 1983, but it was released in 1984 with the album "All the Rage", which was the debut album for General Public, the newly created band by Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger after the breakup of The Beat (The English Beat in north america) in 1983. It got its popularity peak in 1984.

Anthropological wonder this is. Girl at the end attempts to caress the singers face and he yanks his head back. Looked like she almost got her finger in his mouth. Ah, pre consent days...
