And of course they are going to play David Sylvian and his band from England called Japan!! 😎 Duran Duran and many bands in the 80's took David Sylvian's and hi English band called Japan sound and looks!! 😎 Just look at Nick Rhodes trying to look like David Sylvian!! 😎 When Duan Duran were teanagers and were fans and Dura Duran looked up to David Sylvian and his English band called Japan who came out 5 years before Duran Duran!! 😎

I honestly don't hear Duran Duran having the "Japan sound". I honestly don't know of any Japan songs I like even. Do they have a guitarist comparible to Andy Taylor? Yes, I see some resemblance in Nick and David, but Nick changed his appearance a lot, more like David Bowie often changing his looks, and David Sylvian's look seems to be rather constant. Is Sylvian a stage name? Yep: "David Sylvian was born David Alan Batt in Beckenham, Kent, England." As for Nick Rhodes and David Sylvian's androgynous looks, you could say both copied Bowie. To be honest, when Nick looks more like a man, he is very handsome, and some of the times Nick looked androgynous with too much make up, Nick's look turned me off. So, I like the less androgynous, more natural looking Nick best. Plus, Nick's hair is red here and David's is blonde. Nick didn't have blonde hair until years later. It's very common to dye your hair blonde. Maybe Nick's inspiration was Marilyn Monroe rather than David Sylvian?? What song by Japan do you believe makes you think DD stole their sound? To me, DD has many songs that sound quite different, so I guess they stole many bands sound? Every band and musician has been influenced by others, but I really don't see nor hear a strong relation between Duran Duran and Japan. I've played some of Japans' videos in the past and I was skimming through them as I don't really like it. JT has openly said Chic's bass player Bernard Edwards was his inflence. When I have the chance, I'll try to listen to Japan more to hear their version of Andy Taylor! lolololol...... 🤣😂😎

OMG, a Big No! I just searched group photos of Japan and their looks turn me off. Sorry, but I like looking at the Duran Duran men. No, DD nor any other band I know of copied Japan's look. The only band that maybe did is A Flock Of Seaguls. lol. 😎😎😎

Anyone know the date this was filmed and aired live? Early 1983? I thought this was late 1982. I watched this live and is when I became a fan. Simon & Nick both made a great impression and I bought their albums. Simon has a great personality and that shows. Nick is congenial, nice smile, and looked great as a redhead. Rio is definitely their best album. Tel Aviv is their most under-rated song IMO. I'd love a long, extended version of Tel Aviv and Save A Prayer. The music in both is stunning, captivating, mesmerzing. I would like Simon to write more about the story in Save A Prayer. More could be told and perhaps create some more rockin' segments to add to my favorite song of theirs. It's a passionate song, so no limits on what they could create. I have daydreamed about Simon/DD pouring out their creativity and emotions into a long version of Save A Prayer, like what Queen does in Bohemian Rhaspody.
