dang. I was 16 when this came out. He's only gotten better and the reason is because only the ones willing to mature and use their real life in music are the ones that succeed. We stick w them, or in my case, come back to them cause they grew up with us. LOVE the new songs and still love those old ones !!

Watching this makes me feel so old I loved MTV. I was lucky enough to see him in concert when he came to Colorado. He is a great performer. I loved watching him on General Hospital when he was Noah Drake

Could not agree more - I see him in his "Rugby" shirt. Ha. Those were the days - The 80's - I'm grateful Rick is still here and knocking them dead and I'm here to see it.

Martha asks a question and then lets Rick speak without constantly interrupting him. Today's reporters and talk show hosts could learn from her.

This guy's two years older than me and I remember the Rugby shirt used to be a popular style and below the collar length hair, boat shoes(Sperry Topsiders) with no socks, land lines, MTV gave the music industry a boost, and you had to have a cable subscription or satellite tv to watch it, same with Dodger home games with "On TV"(Jeff Witcher and Al Downing as the broadcasters). Prince had what was considered then a too-racy-for-TV music video called "Automatic" you could only see on subscription tv. There was "Pressure Sway" by Machinations that we thought was great.

He took classes to reduce his accent when he got to the U.S. If you look up his early interviews from the '70s, you can definitely hear his Australian accent.

@@SilkyShish I agree, us Americans are intrigued by accents, but the fact is the adoption of the American accent though training (yes, we do have accents) wouldn't get him General Hospital and hence we wouldn't have classic songs like Jessie's Girl.
@SilkyShish2 жыл бұрын
@@jokerswildio - I am from the UK and I do notice everyone has an accent. Americans have various accents depending on the state. Canadians have accents too. The reason Rick got rid of his accent was mostly to do with the time period he lived. Before the 1990's in order for any non-American to find work in Hollywood they were often expected to not have an accent other than an American accent. Even actor Cary Elwes from "Princess Bride" fame at some point got rid of his British accent. Karl Urban did the same with his New Zealand accent at one point. During "Lord of the Rings" fame, Karl spoke in his native accent and then a few years later was speaking in this American accent in interviews. Now he is back to his native accent. Too bad Rick never went back to his own accent.
@jokerswildio2 жыл бұрын
@@SilkyShish You are right, I'm from California and I "tooootally like" have the accent. Living in L.A , I hear the California accent slightly with Rick Springfield---though us natives can tell it is also slightly forced.

I loved MTV FROM 1981, 82, 83, 84 AND THEN 1986 THE COMEBACK YEAR OF THE MONKEES !!!. Anyway on a 24 hr. I wasn't even born yet when this interview started. Rick Springfield seems pretty cool in his young form. My parents got married at this time. Want to know a private secret? My clitoris erects everytime I see Australian musicians like Rick Springfield himself vs. Neil Finn from Crowded House. They're similar to British musicians. It's like I'm developing a special connection with them for some very romantic reason. I wonder if this Australian artist has good upper body strength to lift young American women off of the ground, kiss their necks and their bellybuttons at the same time, etc. Just curious!
