The Mu'allaqat or the hanging poems are a collection of what is considered the best poetry from pre-Islamic Arabia. These include a total of 7 poems. Some narrations count 9 and some 10. In this video, I will give you an introduction to the 7 hanging odes and their authors:
1: Imru al Qais
2: Tarah ibn al 'Abd
3. Zuhair ibn Abi Sulma
4. Labid
5. Antara ibn Shaddad al 'Albsi
6. 'Amr ibn Kulthum
7. Harith ibn Hilliza

@ ArabicFluency I love your channe i HAVE A QUESTION BROTHER! What would you say was the complexion of preislamic/ancient arabia? I cant find the scholar's name and I am so upset I lost it.But there was a girl who wrote a sheikh complaining about having what she considers dark skin. sHE WAS DEPRESSED ABOUT IT AND LONGED TO HAVE LIKE A PALE nORTHERN eUROPEAN SKIN COMPLEXION.The sheikh told her that he had to excuse himelf(due to being a religious man) but there were many preislamic poetry describing the beauty of dark skin complexion on a woman.

Yes i did come across something like this while looking at the mu'allaqat. I suppose it is safe to say the Arabs considered both things beautiful.

@@ArabicFluency hi so sorry I didnt understand. When you said "both things" do you mean both complexions or something else because northern european complexion would be unheard of at that time. I watched a lecture by Sheikh Omar Suleiman and another sheikh about how inaccurate movies are that depict Preislamic Arabs as "white". Thats why there is such dispute and anger towards Jesus in Christianity being depicted as a blonde blue eyed nordic. I also read that Arabs were proud and looked down on "Roman features". Also, "white" in Arabic not having the same racial classification as white today. What both things did you find arabs had a fascination with, sorry if I misunderstood. Thank you for your speedy and thorough responses, I greatly appreciate it.

Arabs in the Arabian Peninsula call Arab women the (white )because they are not exposed to the sun and also because they do cover their faces. As for men, their skin becomes dark due to the hot sun And calling women white even in the present era As for race, the Arabs are a Semitic race, neither white like Europe nor black like Africa. They are distinguished by their long nose and wide eyes. I am from central Arabia

How can one reach a level of Arabic in which one can see the ijaaz of the Qur'an and how the poets of that time couldn't imitate it ? What was the uniqueness of the Qur'an which they couldn't match?
@ArabicFluency
@ArabicFluency 2 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, one can start understanding the Qur'an with 1.5 - 2 years of study. In 3 years you can start seeing the uniqueness of the verses, in comparison to any other text.
