Muay Thai is a precious piece of Thai people. Thai ancestors used Muaythai to protect the country, including the use of head, foot, kick, kick, punch, elbow, knee hit, shoulder falls, Fight with the intuition around. Later in the "Sukhothai period". Muay Thai is the son of the king as a commander. Finally, it was passed to the people who could study at the "temple". Thailand used to be a very small country. Most of the people in Thailand right now are Laotians. Laos used to be very big but because of their appetite for wars they lost a lot of land to their surrounding neighbors. Thai and Laos used to be brothers in different kingdoms. Tony Jaa is an actor and stuntman, he never really mastered Muay Thai or Boran, he learned the moves for his movies.....He even states this very fact in all his interviews..LOL
@nlg9sh9183 жыл бұрын
Actually Tony Jaa practices muay thai since he was 10, and studied muay thai and muay boran, as well as other martial arts, in Maha Sarakham College of Physical Education. He also practices krabi-krabong, the Thai weapon-based martial art, and has black belts in wushu and taekwondo. His technical level is insane. He studied the moves for Ong Bak for 4 years because they include the most advanced and difficult muay boran techniques. The best fighters in the ring today can't perform his repertoire or even close to it. Of course, they don't need most of the muay boran techniques for the purpose of winning fights in muay thai combat sport. Ong Bak is like a muay boran demonstration at the highest technical and athletic levels. It also has a krabi-krabong scene using traditional Thai weapons. Ong Bak 2 and 3 have also lots of kung fu, including rare styles like dog kung fu, and weapon based kung fu.

Muay Thai's originates from Chinese, very possibly Chinese Shaolin monks who went with Buddhist missionary and exploration to the South East Asia area as far back more than 1000 years ago. The Thai word "Muay" is actually from Chinese word "Mu", which means martial or fighting, as in "Wu Shu". "Wu" is mandarin pronunciation, whereas "Mu" is the original Chinese Yue pronunciation that was taught to Thais. Chinese culture adopted by Thai's ancestors the Tai in the kingdom of Funan, as far back as 400BC!! That was about 2,400 years ago! Thailand, Burma, Lao and Cambodia, those countries were and are still very much influenced by Chinese today.
@danieldavis62889 жыл бұрын
+futurevideo10 There's actually numerous martial arts systems from all around those parts of Asia, the history of Muay Thai is fairly well documented and doesn't have much to do with China. Granted, the Shaolin deserve a lot of credit for martial arts evolution all over the world by now and have an amazingly illustrious history, it would probably be a stretch to tie them in with the invention of Muay Thai. Muay Thai is actually more of a mixed martial art in its origins. As you pointed out, the region that it originated in is historically multicultural. It draws heavily from Cambodian and Laotian styles, but so far as Chinese influence goes...very little. San Shou can probably be seen in the defense, but that's it. Going back to he Southern Chinese stretch, the idea of a 'Southern Shaolin Temple' has been shown to be virtually a myth. This gets its origins from monks who were dispatched to defend the coast from the predations of Japanese pirates, very well researched as it was a popular legend for a long time. Those monks never actually established an independent temple.

Daniel Davis *Thai culture including Muay Thai is actually Khmer culture. Khmer culture was strongly influenced by Chinese due to their strong close ancient contact long before Thai appeared.* *There is really no such thing as Thai people, they are mix of different people including Khmer, Tai Chinese, Mon, and many others. Over half of today's Thai people carry DNA of Tai Chinese.* *Archaeological discoveries of ancient Khmer Funan kingdom that was closely tied to China showed Muay Thai came from Khmer.* *Buddhism and Martial Arts were first introduced by Chinese to the Khmer, and later adapted by Thai when they appeared.*
@jad36369 жыл бұрын
+futurevideo10 +Daniel Davis Daniel just proved you wrong lmao..... you completely ignore his statements and facts you just go back to stating whatever the fuck you believe, Muay Thai is well documented as the sport version of Muay Boran, used by Thailand prior to the 20th century during wars as hand to hand combat.... Buakaw is Thai not Khmer.... just because the land was won over in a war does not mean it still belongs to the original owners lol no, it was won during a war, Buakaw was born to Thai parents in Thai culture under a Thai roof.... cut your bullshit
@futurevideo109 жыл бұрын
jad3636 *What is Muay Thai Boran:* *Boran means ancient. It is actually a Khmer word which was absorbed into the Thai language. Long ago, Khmer words and culture were adopted into Thai culture. Today, in Thai language, many words associated with religion, royalty, martial arts, science, and government come from Khmer. The original Khmer kickboxing art is called Bradal Serey (Pradal Serey) which was stolen by Thailand and later falsely renamed "Muay Thai".* *Today, Muay Lao, Muay Thai, Bradal Serey, and Burmese boxing (Lethwei or Lethawae) are quite similar. The cultures of these countries are also quite similar, with the people following Theravada Buddhism, which spread from Cambodia. Ancient Khmer is the written language of the ancient scriptures of all of these countries.* *Neighboring Vietnam is always the odd-man-out. The culture is Chinese. The written language was Chinese, until the French forced them to use the Latin alphabet. And the predominant ancient martial art, Tieu Lam, is a form of Chinese Kung Fu. There are rumors that Vietnam once had a kickboxing art similar to Cambodia. Today, this art seems to have disappeared, but even in Tieu Lam, we see some elements taken from kick boxing, such as shin kicks and elbow strikes.* *The point here is that the fighting arts of all of the Indochina countries are quite similar, and clearly come from the same origin. In Thailand, however, martial art developed into a massive professional sport. Kickboxing is also the national sport of Cambodia, but there are less than 400 registered boxers. In Thailand there are close to 100,000.* *Muay Thai Boran is a word which is often given to the original, military fighting art, which was later watered down into a sport art, used in a kickboxing ring.*
@jad36369 жыл бұрын
futurevideo10 Also False, Muay Thai is very different than any kickboxing tradition, ANY... not even one we so "adopted" our punches,angles,footwork,kicks are not the same as kickboxing... whether it is American or other countries... they sure as hell incorporated other ideas sure... but in the end Muay Thai is their own, like you're going to fucking tell me the Khmer also invented boxing? boxers are actually kickboxers that developed from the Khmer because they use punches..... yeah sure bud, shut up please, you have facts but none that prove a point.... where do you even get your sources.... nothing is certain about your first paragraph

Thai is just a nationality, it's not a tribe or a unique group of people. There really isn't such original people called Thai. Thais are made up of different people, they were Tai people from southern China merged with Khmer people and Mon people, together they formed the first Thai people. The origin of the Tai people lies around the Chinese Province of Guangxi. Qin dynasty founded Guangdong in 214 BC, initiating the successive waves of Chinese migrations from the north for hundred years to come. The Tais from the north gradually settled in the Chao Phraya valley from the tenth century onwards, in lands of the Dvaravati culture, assimilating the earlier Mon and Khmer people. The Tais who came to the area of present-day Thailand were engulfed into Buddhism of the Mon and Khmer culture. Therefore, the Thai culture is a mixture of Tai traditions with Mon and Khmer influences. The early Thai were called “Siam” by the Angkorians(Khmer or now Cambodians). At one time Thai were under Angkorians control. Thai Empire started in around 1350. Inspired by the Khmer Empire(Cambodia). People please get your facts straight, stop continuing your ignorance, and give credit to who really deserves it. In this lesson you learned: 1) Thai is really Tai(who could be called Chinese from southern China), Mon and Khmer(Cambodia) people. 2) Muay Thai is not from Thailand.
@markkobylanski7919 жыл бұрын
+futurevideo10 Much like Americans are not an original people but a huge mix of many nations. This does not diminish the fact that they are Americans and things they hold dear are in fact theirs... Your arguement about the Thai being Tai is pretty inane, going that far back in time to lay claim that a contemporary national sport is not of that nation beggers belief and shows a lack of critical thought. Spouting something you read somewhere without thinking about it and balancing it with other relevant information is just plain childish.
@futurevideo109 жыл бұрын
Mark Kobylanski *United States took the language of England but it still called it English, doesn't call it Americanese, this is showing respect to the origin.* *Thailand stole Khmer Kun from Cambodia and calls it "Muay Thai", this is very wrong.*
@markkobylanski7919 жыл бұрын
+futurevideo10 Glad you brought that up... Using your timeframes and argument, English isn't really an original language, it is a heavily Germanic, Franco, Spanish, Nordic, Italian, etc influenced language, your respect is misplaced. So we cant really call it English as it takes from many other languages. That is your own argument, applied across the same time period. If you accept this type of argument then where do you draw the line that something is 'owned' by a culture? Is it time based? is it based on social knowledge & exposure? is it based on something having enough unique facets that it becomes its own thing? If so, how many differences make it unique? On another point, saying that there is no such thing as Thai people is frankly ridiculous, unless you can accept that there is no such thing as a contemporary American. The Americas are populated by a diverse mix of invading countries peoples, bringing their own cultures, languages, accents, cuisine, etc. There is a recognised country called Thailand, the people born there are Thai. Their cultural heritage is mixed, much like every other country in the world! What point are you trying to make?
@futurevideo109 жыл бұрын
Mark Kobylanski *English is not an unique language like the Chinese, but at least the United States give credit to England for borrowing English language and not naming the language as "Americanese" to fool people.* *Thailand borrows a great deal of Cambodia Khmer culture including Khmer Kun, but Thailand denies any relation to Cambodia and Khmer, and even openly lies that Thai culture and Muay Thai are Thai originals.* *At least United States openly admits its historical root in England, but Thailand lies about everything in its history, trying to fool people to think its cultures and people are originals when in fact they are not.* *My point here is to expose the lies told by Thailand calling Muay Thai as its own original invention.* *By the way, even Buakaw is really a Khmer who was born in a Cambodia area (Surin) stolen by Thailand. Even Buakaw implied that Muay Thai is actually Khmer.*

"Muay Thai" was NOT invented by Thai, nor it's a Thai system, it's from the same kickboxing system used and still being used in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. In Cambodia it's called "Kun Khmer". The Cambodian word "Kun" has Chinese origin, in literal Chinese it means fist or fist fighting, but overall it means martial art or "systematical fighting". Khmer is the name of Cambodian people. Chinese educated the people in the region where is now called Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. The Chinese helped developed those nations, this is the reason for so many Chinese living in and running those countries today, they have been there since as far back as at least 1,000 years ago.
