Great details coach...i see too many 🇺🇸 practitioners dependent on catching kicks, because they haven't taken the time to develop these blocking techniques. The anticipation this trains into you, allows you to defend kicks with confidence.

Great Instruction, Thank you. Do you have suggestions on how to train your 50/50 balance? I am often not able to block because of the weight distribution. Also my weight is often heavy on the front foot. Maybe it is worth for a future video instruction. Anyway greetings from Germany

What's your opinion on adding the opposite hand for extra protection if the kick lands above the knee, or do you think it's safe enough? I know blocking with both arms there is a risk of fake roundhouse into superman punch, so could be better not to?
@KMAAcademy202010 ай бұрын
Great question, if you travel to Thailand , they will teach you DO NOT block with the arms, either block with the shin , catch the kick or if your opponent lands to immediately attack, but the block is the best and safest route . Thx for watching 🙌🙌

Tbh for the bodykicks I like the double arm block into punch counter (cross for left body kick, left hook for right body kick). Body kick counter will get blocked most of the time anyhow. He didn't land you did neither. And I find after a cross or a hook its easier to follow with a combination. So you win the exchange. Make him think about throwing it again. Like every move/way of blocking everything has up- and downsides.You can be faked out in both methods. It's a preference thing. There is no one way fits it all.

Up to you … however when you fight in Thailand 🇹🇭 a “double arm block” is not considered a block , it’s a landed score so you’re going to lose from a point perspective . Thnx for watching ! ~Charles Johnson

@@KMAAcademy2020 yeah I know. I do kickboxing though. Not muay thai (rules).

Yes for Kickboxing rules Dutch block is the standard way to put pressure and counter middle kicks.@@whoknows8223
