I find alternating kicks to be entertaining. It gets me to think of how deadly the Muay Thai martial arts form can be.

hi Sia , thanks for 15min and 30 mins videos tutorial . love n practice as well . I have query . whenever i try to practice to kick ROUND HOUSE , my nerve of calf muscle feels like pulled and so i can't try to kick hard even after warm & sretching of 30-45 mins. any tips .

Hey, sounds like you should consult a physio for further tests / scans ! May be something that requires medical attention or rehab before you try to kick :) better be safe than to acquire a worser injury later!

Hi Sia, is it easier to kick from one side than another? Does this happen to everyone that their one side is more prominent than the other? I’m a righty and right leg kicks are stronger whereas left leg is quite weak. Any suggestions?

Yes it happens quite often it usually is because we’re stronger on one leg in terms of being able to support our weight. Suggest to strengthen the weaker leg .. eg for me working on clave strength and endurance .. and glutes

Try not to think about your age. I took up muay thai at 37 and have done it for a year. Work on the basics, I'm assuming you mean flexibility? It'll come.. Once you get hooked, you'll wanna improve. A coach once said, be the best 40yo old you can be.. not think, because I'm this age it'll mean I'm horrible. I like to think I can carry myself pretty well with most after only a year, but still tonnes to improve on!

Hey I would start with really basic stretching.. a KZbin beginner video should be fine. Don’t push till you are in too much discomfort. Also shadow boxing the kicks lightly and at a lower level eg leg kicks or push kicks to the thigh before trying to kick higher. Next week’s video has a kick shadow boxing section at the start that you may find useful :)
