First game against dredge was a turn 2 goldfish. Play the enchantment, stack the deck with frenzy on second down and 1 cards you don’t want on top of it, if opponent dosn’t interact pay upkeep, draw for turn, brainstorm, hold priority, crack led x2 for red, brainstorm resolve, put 2 back keep the frency, cast frency, combo win.

@@hydra66 With that much mana on the Storm side, Helm doesn't do anything to speed them up. The deck doesn't need much mana to combo off. If they're casting spells, they're winning that turn regardless. Helm was the correct play there, for sure.

I don't play Legacy enough so I don't know how the meta has been, but I found myself thinking that Tormod's Crypt might be better than Silence in the sideboard. Either as a split between Silence and Crypt 2/2 or something like that. Crypt has the free spell value with frenzy, and it would be pretty useful for the dreaded Dredge matchup. There's also some good value against Lands, Reanimator, and certain Delver archetypes. Maybe this is just the Captain Hindsight in me looking back though.

Pact of Negation would actually work and Force could even be done though it'd be pretty sketch with LED being such a key player. You can't look at the second card down while casting the top card. But you can look at the top card while your own spell is on the stack, then counter your own spell. Defense grid seems like a no brainer though, even if you're running Pact and Force, you're never gonna have as many counters as your opponent and the Defense grid would just give you a winning exchange.

In that final game, I think the correct line is T6 lead on Silence followed by Frenzy, hoping for a blind hit. They would need 2 counters to get through it and if it resolved, Noxious Revival would've been the top card and I think you could go off from there.

Why wouldn't you play helm around 32:00 ? You could tap opal and sac petal for it leaving the land for tutoring up frenzy with the bonus of helm in play with a still active opal (itself+helm+led = metalcraft) at the tradeoff of a petal being in the yard (which in itself could be useful using Noxious on it mid frenzy if really needed). The only card that gets helped by helm's ability in dredge would be Serenity but not all of them run it and there's potential to race it still.

You should have a Regrowth in sideboard I think so you can Burning Wish for it and then Regrowth a Frenzy or Tutor to your hand from milling, like you did in match 1 game 2. Also just a good card to wish for when comboing. Also should have some ritual in the sideboard like Seething SOng.

Because he is the faster deck while dredge is very resilient. Bringing in a card that could disrupt the frenzy, or make you take a turn off of winning, for ineffective interaction is just bad. Echo is for chalice, counterbalance, trinesphere and maybe thalia.

Announce your casting Experimental Frenzy, to pay the cost you sac both LEDs for Red and Blue. Keep one red one blue in mana pool (assuming you need those colors, you just stacked your deck and go off.) You can even play a land!

If there is a Frenzy in the top 10 you can stack it second from the top, next turn, use tundra to pay upkeep, draw random card, use mox to play brainstorm, in response sac both LEDs and play the frenzy with 2 mana floating AND the next 8 cards already stacked... (only gets foiled by a turn 1 therapy naming brainstorm)

Why not Pact of negation? Probably the only deck in all of Legacy that it's a better option than Force. You can look at the top card of your deck at all times, so you can even look while a spell is on the stack and Pact your own Spell when you're going off. And in horrible situations you can even pay for the Pact with LED, if you didn't manage to win immediately after forcing your Frenzy through.

​@@MTGGoldfish While not ideal, it shouldn't completely fizzle the combo unless it's the top card of your library when you cast Frenzy 1. Play Frenzy 2. Cast spells off the top 3. Hold priority after every spell is on the stack, while holding priority, check your top card, if it is Pact, then quickly use it to counter the spell currently on the stack Awkward, but should usually work.

Still needs work but it can go off pretty quickly. Has the same problem with Force of Will. Lion's Eye is restricted in Vintage but you do get moxes.
