I remember this song reaching #1 on a radio station from Lubbock, Texas in the summer of 1986 as soon as it was released as a single. We were working in the cotton fields near Levelland, Texas and the radio station played the top 10 songs of the week every Saturday at noon. If I remember correctly it remained at # 1 for two weeks. The album was released later that summer. I was about 14 or 15 years old.

Beatlette I agree. The original version was o.k., but Selena definately made it better. To tell the truth, I've never heard her cover a song that I didn't think she did better than the original. She just added that "certain something" to a song that can't really be explained or learned - a rare thing that few musical artists possess. The combination of her voice and the manner in which her songs were arranged just equalled musical perfection.
