You are spot on Sandy, you should not spend your whole life waiting for better things to come. You should focus on what is available in the present and participate in what you have available right in front of you in the present. Don't wish things were better, make them better. Thank you for sharing some very inspiring thoughts my friend. Your bike ride was beautiful, you turned an average day with not so great of weather into an exceptional day by just making the decision to hop on your bike and "embrace the suck." And you made our day better too by sharing your experience. Very nice photos you captured too. Take care my friend, I will see you on the next one.

I couldn't agree more Sandy. Be happy with what you have and have what you can afford is my motto for a happy life. Too many people have to have the best car in the work's car park, go on the best holiday to show off on social media, eat in the poshest restaurants so they can boast of facebook, always seeking approval from others while struggling to pay the bills because they've spent too much on pretentious, shallow stuff. Some nice photo's there, the last one is an absolute belter!

Thanks Sandy for another great little video! I love the country side, loved that long stone wall ! quite a long trek to it wasn't there!?The other thing that facinates me are the Hedges! even along side the woodland stretches there are manicured hedges? who clips them? the land owner? or is there a Highway maintenance dept that does that? anyway glad you did not hurt yourself on that little "Aerial decline" as it were. when you were hugging the grass. glad the landing was a soft one there!. thanks again for sharing. de Ellis WA1RKS
@WiltshireMan Жыл бұрын
Hi Ellis, Mostly it's the farmers who maintain the hedges, they use a type of flail cutter that makes a mess of the hedge to begin with, but it soon recovers. Also the risk of getting a puncture goes up a lot after the hedges have been cut

Hi Angela, Holding the camera certainly could be part of the equation but I'm blaming the uneven ground. Really cold weather does pose a particular challenge for me as many years ago I had surgery to remove a type of brain tumour called Acoustic Neuroma, the surgery paralysed my face and as a result I can't blink my left eye, the googles do help though. Snoods are great for sleeping at night in a tent

@WiltshireMan I can relate to a paralysed face, as my left side I can't feel anything at all due to having cancer on that side of my face, I had 3 graphs, also one on my nose, all due to renal medication 😔 but hey ho, it doesn't stop me getting out and about like you do daily. Take care my friend. 🙏

Very true words Sandy, there was some very nice vistas and some colourful stills, what area was you cycling in?

Hi Colin, I set off from my home in NE Swindon, headed East through Stanton park then took the B road to Coleshill, then the D'Arcy Doulton way down to Westmill and the Wind farm before returning home through Sevenhampton. 18 miles in total

You've certainly struck a chord with your thoughts on contentment Sandy judging by most of the comments I've read. I concur. It reminds me of an old John Lennon quote "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans" . I think he stole that quote off the back off a matchbox 🙂

Enjoy that, some lovely lanes to explore in your area, would you say you know most of them or is there plenty more to try out? Take care and look forward to more 👍
@WiltshireMan Жыл бұрын
I think I've been along most of them by now Nige, still some footpaths to explore but you can't ride a bike on them

Thats why I love my iPhoneography Sandy , just pull up on your bike and pull the phone out of your pocket and snap away and move on real quickly. Hope you were ok after your little fall - bloody KZbinrs lol 😂

Yes there's something to be said for that technology, though some think it's also cheating and taking the skill out of photography, it's just the way it goes. My phone doesn't take very good photo's
@newforestexplorer Жыл бұрын
@@WiltshireMan I hear that a lot but for me it’s all about composing the shot rather than getting the settings correct. I’m lucky to have the latest iPhone that can take stunning photos as good as many an expensive camera but at the end of the day it’s just about getting out there and capturing the moments

Hi Sandy. I'm new to Swindon area. Which cycle route by chance are you wandering along?
@WiltshireMan Жыл бұрын
There are quite a few around Swindon to explore. The first one runs from the Kingsdown road and takes you into Stanton wood and lake, a nice ride. Towards the end of the video I was some way out of town on a bridle way track that runs from nr Coleshill to Longcot

Thanks Sandy. I think that's my morning adventure sorted tomorrow. If you wander across a fella on a yellow bike trapped on the magic roundabout that'll be me 😂

Lots of people are waiting to start living their lives till something happens, retirement, lottery win, global warning, world peace….. I know others that are now retired but don’t have the health to live those dreams. You have to work with what you have otherwise they will be unfulfilled dreams.

Sounded like you were totally 'getting your Zen on' at the start of that Sandy. But - do me a favour will you - just check you have Terra firma underfoot before you decide to do a triple selco instead of a simple, safe dismount.

Hahaa will do Will. I blame it on the hole that must have appeared as I placed my foot on the ground:)
