Jimi did enjoy this LP immensely, being a huge fan of Elmore James, Lightnin' Hopkins etc... hearing this direction that Muddy took in a sense validated Hendrix's own style & sound to himself. Sadly, this LP wuz never received well by critics and blues fanz alike, and it even came out at the behest of Muddy himself! Of course, some 40 yearz after it's initial release, it became a cult classic that continuez to amass fanz to this very day. On a final note.. the lrad guitarist providing the scorching & searing psychedelic lead guitar iz Pete Cosey.. who would go on to play alongside Miles Davis, actually playing the guitar parts Miles had written for Jimi Hendrix, who unfortunately had died just 2 weeks prior to the date Davis had scheduled for them. One can only imagine the soundz that would've given us!! "Don't Let the Dragon Eat Your Mother"

Are you certain about that? Because, as far as I know John McLaughlin wrote "Don't Let the Dragon Eat Your Mother" which was featured on his album, Devotion. And it was McLaughlin who was contracted to record with Miles Davis. However, McLaughlin was under contract to Douglas Records at the time and was due to record one more album before getting his release. He was under a lot of pressure from both Miles, who had studios booked and Douglas Records who wanted one more album. And so he recorded Devotion on which was "Don't Let The . . ." All of the track on Devotion are little more than excellent improvising around various ideas that McLaughlin had in his head, but at least he gave Douglas what they wanted and McLaughlin went on to record Bitches Brew, In A Silent Way and a few others. Incidentally, McLaughlin went on to record solo albums on which were some of the tracks from Devotion, but better arranged and devoid of improvisations. However, Marbles, from Devotion is my always favourite track.
