I put a rough country 4 inch lift kit in my 2000 WJ and one thing I made sure to do is put thread sealer on every bolt lol. Also after 500 miles they suggest you torque everything again just in case.....my only complaint is the kit didn't include any decals 😆

Very nice, except for the 17 inch wheels. I have a 4" lift and 33s on mine, but with 15" inch wheels. They are great when aired down. And they have a lesser backspace, so my wheels don't look sucked into the wheel wells like that.
@clstjam43212 жыл бұрын
Consider installing the Bushwacker pocket flares. I also have 33s on my WJ and without the flares it rubbed like crazy when it flexes even a little but WITH the flares there's no problem at all. Also, be aware of your windshield washer pump. If you don't relocate it it will get torn off. Cheers bro, from another WJ lover.
@tedz742 жыл бұрын
Another couple of recommendations: drill out the front upper axle side bushing and bracket for a 1/2” grade 8 bolt. You might also need to relocate the windshield washer reservoir as it sits in the space in front of the driver side fender liner.

Currently on 33s like you, but will soon be going to 35s. Just thought I'd introduce myself, and hope to see you on the trails soon! I agree with Ted, you'll definitely want to relocate your washer reservoir. I recommend ditching the WJ tank, and replacing it with a ZJ tank. @@matthew7972 depends on how bad it is, can be as simple as sanding and using anti rust coating or complicated to the point of cutting it out and making a new panel section. This is exactly where I want my 04' WJ overland with the 4.7l HO to be! I'm currently on a 4" suspension system with core adjustable short arms with a rear spacer. I think I'm going to go with the IRO rock link LA front and keep the SA rear with adjustable upper arm just like your build! You have a great looking WJ now! I'm on 265's trimmed out currently, but want to run a 305/70/16 tire or possibly 35"/37" in the future when axle upgrading happens. But as yours sits, I think I'd be happy with a 33-12.00-16. I'm in Iowa, so I have to drive too, or trailer to wheeling spots. I was going to do this to my XJ, but after this video, I'm going to keep it SA front, ACOS and 33x12.50x15 tires. We also have another 04' WJ special edition 4.0l that has a 4" SA and 255 70 17's and ahe wants bigger wheel and tire combo as well. Glad I found your channel, it's exactly what I had in mind for my WJ overland and seeing it has sold me on IRO over Clayton. I'm going to have to subscribe and follow on muddy beards! I wish that someone would make a slightly larger front brake kit for these Jeeps but they don't that I know of. The slotted discs that you put on the front of this Jeep under hard braking I have found cars a little bit of a vibration and I ended up having to install them with the slots pointed like they look like they were on their backwards. I swapped them side to side. You may find that it is a smoother brake pedal that way especially if you get under hard braking. I have a 2003 in gold, I love the color run that one you've got. I don't intend to raise mine because I drive it 99% on the street. I have no plans on off-roading it. I am thinking about putting a bit more engine in it. You will find that if you use the 2007 cylinder heads and use the 2008 cams and switch over the timers that are on your original cams. You will get probably 30 to 40 more horsepower and if you keep the smaller intake manifold that you have on your Jeep you'll probably get a bit more torque. You can get more horsepower if you go to the larger intake but I don't think it gives you more torque I think it gives you a little bit more horsepower and flattens out the torque but the should stay higher with the smaller intake. I have been able to tweak my alignment a couple of times myself whenever I've done any changes. It's actually not that hard to do, and you align it with a couple of measurements and you go out and drive it and you can figure out which parts need to be adjusted to keep your steering wheel straight and your wheels in alignment as best as possible. Go get your front end alignment for a baseline if you wish, I used to change out a lot of steering racks in the '80s when they weren't filtering them and they were chewing themselves up, I would always put in a Chrysler fuel filter into the system that would stop them from wearing out and I always did the front end alignments with a piece of string and by eyeball and the people never complained about their alignment. One person even met me about 66,000 miles later and said they've never had to get the front end line it wasn't burning off the tires it wasn't wearing the tires like it did from the factory, it was great.

I was In until the cutting of the front control-arm mounts - ain’t no way I’m cutting into my unibody. 🚫 But I will check out this supplier, see what else they might have to offer. I’ve had my ‘01 WJ for just over a year, and still haven’t even been able to find decent TIRES to fit it, let-alone suspension and overlanding upgrades. I mistakenly thought the Jeep community was more helpful and supportive, but in a year of asking other WJ owners for supplier suggestions and product recommendations, I have never gotten one single response. Must be another sad sign of our times. Nonetheless, this video was excellent. Great job recording the video, and narrating the audio. 🏆

This kit significantly improved the handling of my rig over stock. I would like to get the rear long arms at some point in the future too. I have the quick disconnects on the way now for the front swaybar.
