Muddyfeet Concrete Pumping

Muddyfeet Concrete Pumping

3 жыл бұрын

Pumping concrete on a 500 yard house foundation. We used both concrete pumps to be able to place the concrete on a timely manner. This project had a strict curfew and we couldn't start any earlier than 7am in the morning. We also added a third pump to this project for a back up pump do to the time restriction. During the pour we had a couple of trucks get stuck which hindered us at times. At one point the city came by and tried to shut the project down due to the traffic coming out of the project mudding up the street.
On a side note, check out Dirt Perfect's podcast titled A Few Points From Perfect. I sit down with Mike to discuss the history of Muddyfeet and how we got started. Y'all check that out.I think you'll enjoy it. Ive left a link to the channel down below.

podcast was cool . gave a new view on how you got the name but man it suits you perfectly. when I was in trade school learning about masonry we all referred to concrete as mud so i just thought that was why but now i know. Paul Harvey once said - and that was the rest of the story, good day. good vid

Having done my fair share of those, I can say that probably the most important thing to look out for on those pours is site prep. Access, access, access! How ever much room you think will be ample for pumps and concrete trucks, triple it and it’ll start to get close to what you really need. AND have a plan B, C and D. The reserve pump is always a good idea. If you can have a dozer or excavator there to help with stuck trucks and re-grading is always a plus too. I think there’s a law that states, _”If a concrete truck is going to get stuck, it must do so in the access path of all other trucks, thus preventing the pour from moving forward.”_

I'm a retired Redi-mix driver. Been retired coming up on 3 years. Our company had their own pump trucks, so the drivers not only delivered, but sometimes had to assist the pump operator on site with setting up, folding up, traffic control, and directing trucks. Watching your videos takes me right back to driving again.

Had a another one just in case but no room to set it up. Also had to move twice. And yet I think I’d still rather pour the 1600 hundred that that mess of a residential.

That’s an intimidating slab, the company I work for does flatwork, 500+ yd slabs all the time, and I think those are bad. I couldn’t imagine the stress on a mono pour like that. Usually the slabs I work on are rectangular so they’re easier I think, lots of machine work once everything’s on the ground though.

Would it work to have the first few trucks dump half their load at the first pump then come around the back with a lighter truck to reduce the risk of getting stuck? Once you get some lighter trucks packing a road, full loads could make it to the back.

@@MuddyfeetConcretePumping Considering how long the 2nd pump truck sat idle waiting for the first load, a slower start at the first truck would get the second truck going with less risk of liquefaction under full loads. As you said, your pumper made it but weighs 10,000 less. That is 2 1/2 yards of concrete. Just an idea from a thinker. But, you got it done.

Wow. Awesome video. It sure does take a lot of work to presite the job. Those HOAs sure can be a huge pain in the butt. It's a wonder that the concrete trucks weren't waiting at the gate to get in at 7AM. I definitely agree with Bill he should have scraped the mud off instead of putting more dirt that's not packed down on top of the mud. That is a huge place. I thought it was going to be a lot worse than it was with the trucks getting stuck. That was funny what you said to the backup pump truck. "Where those guys are, run them over". It's funny but it's the most simple way of explaining where you want them to go. That was a huge job. What kind of burger did you get Bill and Chris from Whataburger? It's almost been a year since I have eaten there. I would not have shutdown either. Just get that job done because you know the longer your there it seems like the HOA gets more aggravated at everyone. Awesome video. Really enjoying your videos. I guess he couldn't stay out of her pants for that size of house.

@@MuddyfeetConcretePumping Okay, different construction culture and different responsibilities in other countries. Just very surprised, in little Sweden there is always a quality manager who will protect the construction of the house (independent of builders and clients). The reinforcement in the video is not even enough for a shithouse in little Sweden. You have done what you asked as an order .... fill it with concrete! And you did it quickly and nicely! Thanks for your answer. 10-4

I was fixing to say, “pay the fine.” Kind of like UPS and FedEx in the city just figure in the parking tickets to the cost of doing business. You can spend hours looking for a parking spot or just gamble that you beat the meter maids. On a job this big, the contractor might just figure paying off the city into the deal.
