I've watched a few of your videos and I just want to say, as a CMT technician who has tested probably over 100,000 of yards of concrete, I THOROUGHOLY appreciate the dedication you bring to making sure your cement/concrete is up to snuff. Too many times have I seen contractors try to skate by with sub-par product, and time and time again I try to explain to them that I'm not just being an asshole. There is a spec for a reason, and if not done correctly the first time, it comes out of YOUR pocket to remove and replace said product. There's a reason guys like me exist and are kept in business. Keep up the good work.

Just because the driver see’s a bad load, doesn’t mean the batch man, or the dispatcher will listen to them, the driver is the low man on the totem pole, I have been on both sides of the equation, as a contractor, and a driver. The dispatcher may be dealing with a much larger pour elsewhere, and that’s where his interest will lay, right or wrong. The driver is the easy target, his face is right in front of you, he literally has no control of anything related to the batch, unless he over does the water add during mixing. Lay blame where it belongs, the companies have their own agendas. Also, sand is one of the more expensive components of the mix, as a driver we were told that by quality control. Then, there’s the overbook factor that’s also a problem with most companies, larger pours get the priority. Not saying it’s right, just stating facts.

Concrete is tough these days. We are on allocation in the DFW area and are only getting 30 trucks a week. Some days we order 10 and get 4 other days we order 10 and get 12. It's damned hard to plan labor and scheduling around this stuff. We'd too be hard pressed to reject a load because we'd likely not get another one.

Hi, everything was set up for a straight forward pour until the concrete turned up and then waiting for a load as the concrete now starting to go off in your pipes not nice but you cracked on and got the job done, I've been there myself having to tip steel pipes before I lost them when I used to do this job here in the UK.

I’ve been doing concrete for 54 years. Poured it batched and pumped it. That truck would have gone back immediately. That’s what you get when the batch man and driver don’t check their load before it leaves the yard. Good catch because that would have screwed yourself and more importantly the home owner because that was garbage concrete. Also family owned a concrete plant and I know what goes on.

That seems like a nightmare man... I feel bad for the homeowner as the ready mix company definitely affected the quality of the job. Not the concrete workers' fault. With all the computer systems the batch companies have, how can they mess it up so badly. Your hypothesis about the rain might be big part of it - but why the different ticket weights?!

@chaselipp9872 жыл бұрын
You think you know what you're talking about? Cause you're wrong. Elevating the rebar before the concrete gets poured won't be any different than pulling the rebar as the pour is happening. As long as it is in the slab and not underneath it
@PomerleauL2 жыл бұрын
Doesn't ANYONE pull the rebar up into the concrete. Honestly rebar in the ground is a waste. I had a poured slab once where I used a motorcycle to pull rebar out from in the ground under the slab. The contractor was forced to remove and redo the job after seeing the video.
