1. My French Step father was the only man in the war the steal a German plane and escape by flying it to England were he flew with the Free French Air Force. 2. I had forgotten how large a Half Crown was. My Grandfather (also French) always gave me and my cousin one for our Birthdays. We thought we were really rich.

Believe me Si, it was quite story. He then volunteered to be parachuted back into France to work with the Resistance. He had already fought in the Chinese civil war, Spanish civil war both times as a pilot. Regretfully he died in his 50s. He believed in peoples freedom. Only bad thing, he stole my mother with his French charm. I guess that did not detract from him being a very brave man.

John Blair - well yes but my step father was a POW made to work on the airfield. He spoke very little German and he stole a flying suit, hat etc. The plane was left revving up on chocks waiting for the pilot to come. He said he shouted very loudly at the mechanics in the words he had heard the Germans user, got in the plane and flew off. He said the men were so used to doing as they were told they didn't query it. When he got to England he flew a white shirt out behind and trusted he would not be shot down. In later years the people who were slave labour in the factory where the plane was manufactured made a large model of the plane and gave it to him.

What a nice group of people! It was so enjoyable to watch everyone celebrating each other’s finds and encouraging the younger kids, too! The cuff link was absolutely fantastic and most definitely the find of the day. Too bad there wasn’t also a prize for best collection of items. That buckle, spoon and key were so different from the other things found! And was he the same gentleman who found the odd lead “coin”? That would seem to make him the clear winner in that category! The teapot lid and eyeglasses were fun, too. And you were on a roll with silver coins! A good weekend!

Best Plains in the world, The super Marine Spitfire, elegant, beautiful, not many left working, the noise they make, you can just imagine the dog fights, on all sides brave men fighting for their country no matter what, I don´t think we would have won if the Americans did not come in, we owe so much to all who took part. War is bad, as a child of the 60´s I´m all peace and love.
