Description:
Today we are in West Wemyss - you may recall that name! It is ubiquitous in this area and has a far reaching influence in the Kingdom of Fife! The area was once famous for coal production.
The bay is rock strewn - so many gorgeous pebbles, and natural sandstone erosion on the bay. The day begins slowly, we find little at first as we make our way along to Blair Point. The rock formations, cliff collapse and today's rough seas make this an amazing place to spend some time pondering the millions of years over which coal formed here in the earths layers, trapping plants and animals as it formed!
The area is designated for special conservation - this and many of the areas along the coast here are famous for fossils. For that reason, no hammering of the bedrock is permitted... We meander and see what the area has to offer - have we found fossilised grasses and plant matter!?
There is much to find without the need for a hammer though and we think we happened across a fossilised crab claw! It might be that we found a stone crab's broken claw! If it is a fossil, which we still need to confirm, then it is at least 10,000 years old! We must get up to speed on fossils!
We amass a really nice collection of things today - well worth the trip! Among them a beautiful piece of flash glass, a lovely little blue shard, though we are really happy with the 1930s Jarry can cap! It really inspires thoughts about how it got here, who used it back in the war years and beyond! Little things like this really make us happy! And... so does our wee spoon - lovely to find a nice range of things!
We return home where Nicole makes some lovely pieces of jewellery from today's finds and includes some unique pebble jewellery... Oh! That wee wishing stone is a lovely thing!
We are in for a real treat today as we get to open the gift package sent to us by Kit & Caboodlers - its amazing, such a wonderful collection of really lovely finds and crafted pieces! So many nice things, thank you!! They are too nice to stay in a box, so we thought we would make use of a shadow frame to display some of the wonderful wee trinkets we are so lucky to have!
We hope you enjoyed today's video... Thank you so much!

--Update on Scotland's COVID restrictions--
We continue to follow restrictions so that we can work safely, responsibly, and legally.
Guidelines in Scotland have now changed. We are now allowed to meet outside with two others from another household. Being the very careful pair that we are, we will maintain our stricter approach with the aim that, if we don't meet up with anyone, we hope everyone can begin to enjoy a life like the one we all knew a year ago.
--Our policies--
- Since March 2020, we have met with no one at all - and we continued to isolate even when restrictions were relaxed.
- We never film in a busy location - aside from maintaining isolation, we could not make restful, calming, or relaxing content in a busy area.
- Since March 2020 we have restricted our travel to distances that allow us to get to our location, film our content, and return home, without ever visiting local amenities, entering any buildings etc. This gives us a reasonable window to work in while also maintaining that we are not out for very long.
- We only film once a week, and we always do that mid-week. If we arrive in an area and people are present, we leave without getting out of the car.
Our policies are simple and entirely concerned with maintaining social distancing so that we can be safe and so that we can ensure the safety of others. We will continue to follow these policies fully, and we will cease outdoor filming altogether should government guidance change.

We had a great day all round! There is one place, further along the coast... the bay drops off at just the right angle so that when the waves wash over the rocks, they crackle as they rejoin the sea! :D We have to go along to record that! :D Thank you so much! xo

As always, a pleasure to go with you even on the windy days. I'm guessing Nicole's wish on the Fairy Bell was for "good finds" or maybe even a marble. You still did find interesting pieces. @8:04 I was hoping you would take that stone home because it looked to be full of fossil oddities -- Maybe just to have as a stepping stone in your garden. Craig, your music is so soothing and magical. The Thames Treasures that Kate & Fleur sent along were amazing. All the the parcels were wonderful -- so generous of K&C.

20:55 I waited for you to speak some more, Craig, so I could be sure. You are quite hoarse, and probably not feeling all that well. Don't let the desire to please your subscribers trump your need to look after yourself. Here in Ontario, Canada, we are just about to enter another lockdown because of the 3rd wave of Covid-19. This time it's the variants that are wreaking havoc amongst younger people. so please take care of yourself, and stay safe. That also goes for Nicole.

BIG HUGS! Thank you for such a very thoughtful, caring and kind, comment! I've (Craig here) had asthma since I was very young and am prone to throat infections - they come and go, usually very fast. This one was so fast - a tickle then no voice in a matter of hours, though other than having no voice, I felt absolutely fine. My voice came back after a day but left me hoarse and croaky! Good news! I got my first shot of the vaccine last week - aside from my annual flu vaccination, that was the first time I was in an enclosed place with anyone, other than Nicole, since last March - almost total isolation. I hope that is reassuring - so very kind of you to mention this... It is a very difficult time, so sorry to hear Canada is about to go into another lockdown... England has began to relax its lockdown, though the numbers are still very high and I think its only a matter of time before its back in lockdown... We are a little different in Scotland, lower numbers and more space... but we will not be complacent despite the fact that things are beginning to relax here too. Thank you so much! Stay safe and well, Best wishes, Craig & Nicole xo

Thanks so much Joanne! Although it was low tide when we were there, the Sea was quite vicious... it's not always this noisy, sometimes it's smooth, but when the tides come in you can hear a change - I always think, it's like somebody pushed a switch - suddenly the Sea gets noisy. It's almost as if it wants to let you know, it's time to go home... Hello from Scotland!!

In some ways we take nature for granted, but the astounding beauty of the sea and the rocks is difficult to overlook on today’s video, especially the way you guys showcase it! There are so many unbelievable stones there on the shore. The sizes, colors, shapes and variety is amazing. And the wind and sea is so fierce! Thank you so much! This was our second visit to this area and our first time this far along the shore... it is so rocky!! Blair Point, is quite dramatic with the cliff face - we were both really taken with the patterns left by wind and sea erosion... yes, very different, I'm not sure its what we expected to find there, but so many amazing things all formed by the environment! So glad you enjoyed it too! :D Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo

The Northern Mudlarkers found a lot of spark plugs near a gas plant that had a boiler (which was prone to exploding) . The boiler used spark plugs.

Thank you so much! :D We only recently started finding spark plugs! The ones we find are from petrol driven motors - small outboard engines and cars mostly. I (Craig) used to make components for domestic and industrial boilers when I first left school, a few years before I chose to go back to education! Those spark-igniters have a very distinctive appearance. As chance would have it, our video, last Friday, was on the site of a Victorian Gas works and we looked at Town Gas. Very interesting places! :D Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo

Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed that... I have some good news! We made a short video of the sounds of the sea - no words, no music - its on our Facebook page (link below). We made another, much longer video - again, no words, no music, just the sea - a few days ago and we are deciding how to make it available - we will let you know. Thank you so much! Happy Easter! Best wishes, stay safe and well! Big Hugs, hope you are very well. xo

Happy Easter 🐰!!! Oh gosh 😲😊!!! Oh, I absolutely love seeing that fascinating old Scottish building...never get tired🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻. And those mosaics at the fairy garden were so beautiful and amazing 🥰. 🤞🏻 Hoping your special wish comes true quickly, Nicole😁. Such amazing stones(large and small)...so beautifully worn by the wild sea. And the colors and patterns on them...WOW, just awe struck!!! Just a wee few finds...but real beauties at that👍🏻👍🏻🙌🏻!!! Pebble jewelry, Nicole... 😳 WOW, some excellent choices in colors...and a wishing stone👏🏻👏🏻. Much good luck to the future owner 👍🏻!!! How absolutely lovely of Kit and Caboodles for the Thames and "found" treasures. I've received from them some amazing and fascinating treasures, also, as from you, too. They are all so very precious to me and have a special place of honor. I can see them everyday and often send out well wishes and "positive thoughts" to my special families across the pond 🤗. Thank you so much for the calming video, my friends. 🥰🤗🤭😘👋🏻

Such a lovely thought... We rest our heads below the same sky and put our feet in waters that flow around us all... Amazing that we can exchange things from our corners, sendi them across those flows, and strengthen the connections through these things! :D Beautiful! We are chuffed with the wee parcel from Kate and Fleur, such lovely things! We have to find a way of getting them out of the box and into sight, so they can see the sun along with that gorgeous purple glass insulator! :D Its a fantastic part of the coast and only our second visit here... we're sure to be back soon! We might need a 101 on fossils before we get along next! :D Thank you so much, it is such a joy to be able to share that wee bit of calm we are so lucky to be able to enjoy on this coastline! Our very best wishes, hope all is well with you and yours, Nicole & Craig xo

What an adventure Craig and Nicole. That blue egg stone is amazing as the next stone! It almost looks like a Roman lamp. Happy Easter from Ontario. I’m confined to my reclining chair with compression fractures in my spine. Still I try to get moving. It would be great to get out on that coast! My walker would challenge anyone. haha LOL Reminds me of the coast of Cape Breton Nova Scotia my home Provence years ago.

Oh! No! We hope you are comfortable and able to get around soon... Oh! If only you could just pop through the screen and enjoy the coast here! Its blissfully quiet... You'd need the walker on a good day in Kirkcaldy though! haha! I just searched images of Cape Breton - gorgeous! What a place! Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo Thank you so much!

I'm a big fan of the Thames Mudlarks, particularly Si, Nicola and the rest, including the Hovercraft guys. Do you ever watch them and the amazing finds they have ? I like to scour the beach where I live in Aberdeen but never find anything much, save for fishing lures etc.

Hello! :D Yes, in fact, Nicola & Kit & Caboodlers featured our channel recently! Good folk! We hope to get down to the Thames for a meet up when that is possible! The Thames is a very special case, given its history and massive populations over the years, it is choc full of stuff from many historical periods! Scotland's populations have never been so condensed as London, so we get far less stuff and its much further spread out. I'd have thought there would be some really good places around Aberdeen, maybe around the Dee or Don? Hope you have some dream finds soon! Thank you so much! xo

Oh! You could easily be right! We have so much to learn about fossils - we'll be back before long! Yes, nature is an unbeatable artist, awed by her gifts we can only reflect as best we can! :D The variety and colours in the stones is a constant surprise - sometimes we find a part of the coast where the shore is a rainbow of tones - just stunning! Hello to both of you. It’s very exciting watching to see what you will find. Loved hearing the sea dragging on the rocks. Thought of you yesterday when I was digging in the garden and found a marble! We'll definitely get back along there... and, not sure it will happen yet or not, but we might get the all clear to travel a little further by the end of the month, we won't hold our breath yet! A friend shared some photographs of yellow tailed black cockatoos today and I'm reminded me of those magnificent birds you have around you!
