Nicole and Craig, It was so nice to see you with Gail and Alex whom I also follow. Since your all rabid Mud larks or in this case rocklarks,, your searches are of great importance and your finds a delight! I've been a musician my whole life and when I rehearse or perform with other musicians, the demands are such that we rarely have time to chat, but music being a universal language , brings us together. Your love of nature and the beauty in small things, natural and manmade , are a bit more social, allowing you to chat while you explore I hope you had time to sit down with them for a chat and some goodies:) Best Wishes, Rik Spector

Hello! And thank you for your patience - I'm very slow replying to you! We had a lovely day - it was really great to meet up with Gail and Alex. We had lots of time to look around and then, as the tide ushered us back up the shore, we sat back and had a good chat before planning to meet up again as we went off north and south - a very nice day! :D I like the musician analogy - it reminded me of an idea of togetherness that some people in the Pacific express when they say they are wansolwora (of one sea)... Very many thanks, best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo

Two of my 3 most favorite mudlarkers the 3rd is K&C just in case your wondering. I do have more I watch but the top 3 The Northern are the first I ever watched and thought they were amazing , I still do.They actually got me into loving mudlarking. Found some from the states I enjoy very much . Then I found K&C then I found some more and ran across y'all and y'all moved up on my list . There is another single lady I enjoy very much , she also makes jewelry , she's from Scotland. I do have to admit I enjoy the jewelry making as much as watching y'all wade through the mud to find that little glint of a treasure sticking out. Great video! Stay Safe ; )

Ah the memories! By the time you got the Bridge on the train, you had enough time to pack up and get ready to get off at Haymarket. Fond memories of doing the Uni Run from Aberdeen to Edinburgh and Aberdeen to London. The Red Eye gave you some spectacular trips down the East Coast, sunrise over the Road Bridge through the sea mist, sunsets, being so tiddlywinks by “Ferry” with my friends and with the generous Oilers that I slept most of the rest of the way to London. 😳☺️

How wonderful! Four of my favorite mudlarkers together in one place! What a special “find” for me today! 😉 The sea glass that you found looked plump and frosty, and appeared to be the right size for jewelry, as well! One day, I hope to place an order with you for a handful of that beautiful glass so that I can try to make some jewelry, as well! 😃 You really were fortunate to discover so many lovely things that day! The fluorescent bead was a special treasure. One way or another, it had traveled so very far! I’ve actually had the pleasure of traveling to Czechoslovakia right after the Berlin Wall fell, but before the country divided into the Czech Republic & Slovakia. That’s where I saw “real snow” (big enough to see, ha!) for the first time. Those flakes were about 3” in diameter! Sincerely! I could see them clearly as they drifted downward, soft yet crisp, through the light from a near streetlight. One of the walls of our bedroom was one big window, making it all look like a scene from a movie. The evergreen trees along the motorways were flocked with snow, and icy water washed over the stones in the little stream that trickled through the village where we stayed. We traveled up to the mountains near the border to Poland for a couple of days, for a conference. The homes tucked away in the little village, with people headed up trails through the wooded mountains with skis on their shoulders…it was like a winter wonderland. It truly looked like pictures from the book, “Heidi”, that I read as a child! While there, I saw some of the beautiful china that they produced. In fact, I miraculously made it back home to Mississippi (USA) with twelve place settings of a meticulously and beautifully textured and patterned set that I purchased while there. And the crazy wonderful thing is that only one little saucer was broken when I finally got to open my suitcases at home! Not only that, I was able to purchase the entire set for only $60! I knew it was my only chance to get such a set, and God sure blessed the purchase and got it safely home for me, wrapped in tons of bubble wrap, in our suitcases! It truly was nothing short of a miracle…like that little bead. 😊 I’d guess that the bead was made in much the same way as the china. And I’m sure that the bead was just as beautiful at one time. In fact, it’s still beautiful to me. 😊 I don’t know if you’re aware of it, but many sun bleached shells will also shine under black light. I noticed Craig looking at a white shell that looked to be sun bleached in the video. There are often beautiful patterns that show up on their surface! This has gone on much longer than planned, so I’ll close now with sincere gratitude for getting to view your video. Blessings to you both! Jacqui ❤️
@scottishmudlarking3 жыл бұрын
Wow! That trip sounds amazing - you paint a very vivid picture! The snowflakes falling, the street light, the window! Lovely! A scene from, If on a Winter's Night a Traveler... by Italo Calvino, popped into my head as I read that! :D And to get that set home with so little damage! Awesome! I did not know a black light had that effect on sun bleached sea shells - that's so cool... we must give that a try... we know a few places where the ground is almost covered in sun-bleached shells... I wonder how that might look after dark! So cool! Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the viode and thank you so much for sharing those thoughts of your travels! Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo

You found loads of things! When I was there with mum we didn’t find that much, but I think it was only because we spent more time in North Queensferry and the tide was coming in when we where leaving South Queensferry
@scottishmudlarking3 жыл бұрын
We had a blast!! Amazing finds and the UV bead is a lovely treasure :) The beach changes so much with every tide, so one day you might find a lot and the next day very little.... Thanks so much Daniela!

Thanks for sharing your trip, the history and the jewelry. I like seeing things made from found items. Make them useful again. And so pretty. So is uranium glass ok to wear as a piece of jewelry? I am curious as I just don't know much about it. It just sounds dangerous to handle. But how cool is it that it glows! See you later😊
@scottishmudlarking3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Karen! We love turning our beach finds into unique jewellery :) We actually made a video about Uranium / UV glass - I have put the link here! It's no more dangerous than handling an aubergine for example (they are also radioactive) -

Hi Guys. Came here from the Northern Mudlarks. Great vid! Do you have a video about the finding you use? love the little bales you've put on the sea glass. Do you drill all the way through or jus make small holes on each side? Also what is that ingenious contraption on your finger? sorry if all the answers are obvious. I've never made jewellery but am fascinated by watching it being made.
@scottishmudlarking3 жыл бұрын
Hi ! So lovely to have you on board :) We have made videos on drilling and the ingenious contraption called a jump ring opener , so give them a wee watch if you like. Here are the links -

I'm brand new to your channel. You had never come up on my feed until I found you on Google search after Alex and Gale suggested. Thoroughly enjoyed watching you with Alex and Gale. Maybe next time you're close to the Queensferry you could let us know how the bridge was destroyed? Thank you for your video. Greetings from the U.S.A.

Thank you so much - welcome, so glad you found us! The youtube feed is a mystery to me, we're very grateful to Alex and Gale for pointing our wee channel out! :D We had a great day meeting them! Oh! The bridge. The person who was supposed to design the bridge here designed the Tay Rail Bridge, which tragically collapsed a few days before New Year in 1882, the same year work began on the bridge here... We said a little about the Tay Rail disaster in an earlier video - I hope you do not mind me posting the link to that video here. Very many thanks, best wishes and greetings from Fife, Scotland! :D xo kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5PFgX2pg96gfLM

Totally irrelevant to this video, ( which I really enjoyed) but I wonder if you’ve seen today’s Courier? It has an article on Binnend , the deserted village you made an expedition to some months ago .
@scottishmudlarking3 жыл бұрын
Oh! That's very interesting - thank you! I'll give that a look! There seems to be a bit of a growing interest in the old shale mining industry - from what I've seen the focus looks like its on West Lothian, so its great to hear Binnend is also in the news! Thank you so much for passing that on! Really awesome! :D
