TREASURES & RELICS handing over to the National Museum of Scotland

Here we have a compilation of some of the best finds over the last months, treasures, relics and even some silver will be examined for the next months for the staff of the National Museum of Scotland.
Some perhaps end up in a local museum, some perhaps will come back to the collection of The Spanish Detectorist.
These are finds unearthed in Scottish fields so are managed through The Treasure Trove in Scotland which protects the Archaeological Heritage.
Objects of cultural significance from Scotland's past are preserved in museums across the country.

Yes Simon the Museum process in Scotland is long winded I'm glad ours over the border is a better system .

Yes the system of registration of finds works better in England in my opinion. They told me is unlikely they will keep the finds but still they need to examine them, process it and disclaim it. At least 1 year I think….

Great video Simon. As I told John before I am very jealous of where you detect. I live in Massachusetts USA. The age of finds here is limited to the colonial days. I like how you have done beach detecting, where John has not. Where you live may have been invaded by sea many times. I hope you hit another beach soon.

Could the first item be a lead as in swinging the leading was attached to a rope knotted at regular intervals, it was slung over the bow of the ship to determine the depth when navigating in shallow waters

I set it with subtitles, don’t know what happened then. Try touching the screen when playing the video, then clicking in the wheel which is in top right screen, then will appear the option “captions”. You have some options here, on, off, auto generated…. Hope this helps
