Finding the mug intact was fantastic, it's nice to have an historic cuppa, when I lived in Devon some years back a local secondhand shop had a lot of ex-prison crockery all marked with the HMP mark, I bought a dozen pint tea mugs from them to give to friends as gifts, the oldest of those was 1938 and purportedly came from HMP Dartmoor. If you get caught with the government pen, you could be transported to Australia!!
