big mike I remember when we didn’t even have a name for this type of metal. We even called it “math metal” because of the time signature and it’s complexity. @thedorchaidhe69644 жыл бұрын
@@erichatchett87 Alyssa contradictory in your statement. You remember when metal wasn't labeled as some sub-genre of metal but then label it a sub-genre lmfao. Metal is metal. End of story. If you label it some crappy sub-genre, you're a wannabe metalhead.
@aim66133 жыл бұрын
@@thedorchaidhe6964 I've always felt it was the "hardcore" metalheads that would judge this type of music and create their own sub genres "nu metal, math, progressive" etc. for it. Metal, I've always felt, was a sub genre of Rock. So the critizism of bands like Korn, Mudvayne, Slipknot or even POD from "Metalheads" always came off as hypocritical in my eyes.

I’ve said this for years. Nu metal, for me, was a lot of trash bands that were lackluster and just record label created, top 40 style music for the radio. BUT…mudvayne was/is WAY DIFFERENT. You can tell from first time you listen to them that these guys aren’t some watered down musicians looking pretty for an MTV video..these guys are the real deal and serious musicians. I always found them to be so much deeper, complex, and intricate than their contemporaries. Somehow they’re able to walk the fine mine of nu metal and being incredibly complex in their playing. Extremely talented for sure, each and everyone one of them in the band
