What about Bilqis? She was the Queen of Sheba, and the Qur'an does not criticize her rule because of her gender, but because of their sun worship.

yup well pointed out and this hadith is not narrated by THE Abu Bakr (ra). the narrator in this hadith is Abu bakr al thaqifi , a man who has been reported to be flogged by the ruling of Umar (RA) for accusing a man and woman for adultery and not producing 4 witnesses. and Quran clearly tells us not to ever take testimony from anyone who accuses someone of adultery and then is unable to provide 4 witnesses for his claim..

@Ijtaba Ali Quran literally mentions a Queen at the time of Prophet Suleiman (AS) who ruled over people and she was commander in chief of her army too - read surah naml

@Ijtaba Ali prophethood is not the same as political leadership. For centuries women lead the communities because men's job was to go hunt, conquer and explore new lands, so in fact, even in patriarchal societies, women had leading roles and it worked just fine. In Islam there is no stipulation that would prevent a woman to become a leader, provided that she has first fulfilled her other roles as a woman.

@lepakistani2176 You should listen to the sheikh's lecture of Abu Bakra (ra). It seems that the incident you mentioned doesn't affect his reliability for transmitting hadith.

Mufti Abu Layth boss this hadith is not narrated by THE Abu Bakr (ra). the narrator in this hadith is Abu bakr al thaqifi , a man who has been reported to be flogged by the ruling of Umar (RA) for accusing a man and woman for adultery and not producing 4 witnesses. and Quran clearly tells us not to ever take testimony from anyone who accuses someone of adultery and then is unable to provide 4 witnesses for his claim.. please look into this chain of narration as well bcz the parts of islamic world where this hadith is popular is mostly isnad-worshipper and won't change their misogynistic mindset for how scholars 'interpreted' the hadith...

I heard that the hadith about a woman being deficient in her faith and intellect was understood as a joke by many scholars. Could you cover the different understandings and your opinion on this hadith?

General Comment: The difference between this century and the previous ones, is something called the Internet. Whilst previously Muslims were unaware of Hadiths and Koranic verses, these are now all available online in English to anyone interested (and includes many non Musliums too). That has made many Muslims challenge or question things they never did, or could, previously. That is is reason why there are so many 'apostates' today who have left Islam. This trend is set to continue this century. However, this is counter balanced by the relatively high birth rates in Islamic nations. Look what is happening in Iran right now - women are openly challenging conventions without fear.

It doesn't sound like the sort of thing the Prohpet (saw) would say. It's too obviously misogynistic and even if the hadith were of the highest provenance, it would still go against basic concepts of rationality and equality that we can derive from first principles and secondly it goes against the same concepts of rationality and the equality that underpin the Quran

The Question is whether the women in western society is actually running and leading the country, or is she just a mere democratic politician, which in reality means to be in between, those in power and the people. Symbolic power/leaders/bosses vs real power/leaders/bosses, although there is a difference between being a leader a boss or being in power. I think, this hadith doesn't talk about being a boss or a leader in a country, but I think when a woman actually is in power.

Read Quran surah Naml, where a real Queen is mentioned who is not just their political leader but also commander in chief who could order whether to attack another nation or not... Nowhere does Quran oppose her rule or show her rulership skills in negative manner..although tabari or other tafsirs try very hard to add irrelevant explicit info regarding her but they dont have any basis in quran. rather she is shown to be a very intelligent woman for recognising her throne that was manipulated by Hz.Sulaiman'(as) team, she was concerned for the welfare of humanity and gave political dialogue preference over bloodshed and poverty, and she also accepted the message of monotheism as opposed to Namrud , Pharoah or leaders of quraish.. she is one of the most noble leaders mentioned in Qur'an.

It's the worst kept secret that the majority of scholars believed that even a _"sahih"_ (sound) transmission doesn't = "fact" or knowing something for certain, but that it was 'likely' said. So the dominant view is actually that it doesn't give us certainty, as Mufti said 2:33. If anyone wants to go with the minority who felt it does give us certain knowledge, cool 👍 but they have no right to impose that view on anyone. Secondly, another fact most aren't aware of is: most hadith are actually paraphrased (riwāya bi l-ma'nā) and were not transmitted verbatim kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6uqaZmVo6eaZ8U So we can't even say definitively that these are the *exact* words the Prophet spoke, because most narrators, unfortunately, paraphrased. Thirdly, the context is often omitted in hadith transmissions, so that just complicates things even more _(even if the Prophet said it,_ what was going on at the time that may perhaps better contextualize his words). In the case of this report, thankfully we do have some details, but often times we don't.

It's a general perception that not only in history but even in present times, most women in many parts of the world stay at home. Their interaction is less common with the outside world. They mostly don't do business dealings or other important physical or mental labour. So they have less practical life experience as compared to men. To become a leader one needs to possess certain qualities such as vision, strategic & critical thinking, Interpersonal Communication, taking calculated decisions, self awareness etc..

So there is this clear cut difference between Muhammad the messenger and Muhammad the Arab man. This means we can thank Muhammad the messenger for truthfully conveying the word of Allah (Quran) and simply forget about Muhammad the Arab man as he is too outdated. Agreed?

Mufti Abu Layth is one of the very few (prominent Muslims) who actually suggest that Prophet Mohammad was a man of HIS times, as opposed to of ALL times. This virtually tentamounts to saying Islam is largely, though not completely, irrelevant today, which is the case.
@leemajor5003
@leemajor5003 Жыл бұрын
Lmao, did you say Islam is irrelevant? 🤣 Is that why 1/3 of the human race is Muslims, and will become the number one religion in the world in just a couple of decades... We have no DOUBT prophet muhammad pbuh was a man of HIS times, but he came with sharia which is for ALL times.

That's only the case IF the main point of Islam was rules and norms, which it isn't even though a good chunk of Muslims would want it to be. Otherwise, the faith ritual and value aspects are still present and will be.

You are just an idiot waffler who isn't intelligent enough to understand mufti's words. What Mufti is saying is that the Prophet was at times prescriptive and a other times descriptive. His prescriptive quotes apply today while a lot of his wordings were simply describing events during his time and not commanding us to do something. This has literally nothing to do with islam being relevant or irrelevant today.
