Thanks Mufudzi! Watched these vids about a dozen times each in order to replace the timing chains on a 2006 LE0 VZ. Ended up replacing the heads as well on account of the built up oil sludge left by the previous owner. Couldn't have done it without you! took me about 2 months for various parts to come from ebay and I was forgetting how it came apart by the end of it! But so good when she roars back into life afterwards. Thanks again.

All, If you are removing the harmonic balancer, you don't need the special GM tool. 3 jaw pullers will work just fine. Just don't follow Mufudzi's way of grabbing the outside of the balancer. You should grab the 3 jaws around the steel center of the balancer. There are flat spots that the jaws will grab on to. If you grab the outside of the balancer, you will be driving to the wreckers buying a new one. Ask me how I know..... Otherwise Mufudzi is a wizard with the rest of the works. Also, the bolts for the AC compressor are a pain. You will find them eventually. Best lift front left and remove wheel and get under to see them.

This was a major point of frustration. There is more than 3 bolts. I think it ended up being about 5 bolts. There are 3 bolts towards the back of the compressor. You literally have to feel for them. Easiest way I found to get to the back ones was to take the left hand front wheel off and then you can see the back bolts. Only thing is once you get the bolts out and the bracket is loose, you still can't get the bracket out as I think having the compressor still installed prevents the clearance to get the bracket out.

Hope u still watch this post for replies I have a 2009 g8 would u know if it has a commador motor or a General motors 3.6 motor in it I know holden I need a us system land made them I'm getting a p016 code u had a 17 so I assume it's the other cam next to your ptoblem. It also gets severe misfires on the right side of the motor cold start sounds good after startup sequence runs for about 2 minutes then the fun starts, I mean guessing that when the solenoids start to tell the phasers to move gets p016 misfires start at that point and as the car gets hotter it gets worse and worse was think chain stretch or skipped but I'm also wondering about a cropped out phaser by passing oil due to work seals in it. Figure I'll do the chains and tensioner watching more the video to see how this comes apparently finally a holden motor video to see u have no idea how hard it is to get parts in Canada for this this especially on a 11 year old car

Yes yours sounds likenstrwched chains. Have you tried changing coils or spark plugs?
@ricklabreche7893
@ricklabreche7893 4 жыл бұрын
Mufudzi Gambiza yup. Changed plugs Stupidest design I’ve ever seen. Pull manifold off to get at middle and rear plugs. Runs fine during warm up. When it starts to call for phaser changes starts to run a bit rough. The warmer it gets the worse it gets. All cyl in right side. Pass side start to miss fire. That chain kit your put in is there a golden number for it. The GM 3.6 opened up sure looks like the same motor. I see Melling and Cloyes makes parts for the GM motor. But can’t find numbers in their system for g8. Since it runs great until phasing starts and gets even worse when hot I’m kinda thinking the phaser is shot. Also saw a vid on a ford motor with phaser problems that has the same Diesel engine rattle as mine apparently the Ford makes this sound when the phaser is shot. Think I have about 180000 km on motor. Kid needs a better car than his biggest piece of crap g6 I’ve ever seen. Probably will change chains tensioner. Phasers. Just trying to figure out where I’m getting parts from other than GM if possible.
