Van Halen has some of the best heavy and fat intros in hard rock..and their endings are awesome too - they're an event. And yeah, and nobody has yet determined what Roth said there.

I don't know how anybody could hear a song like this from them and not instantly make Van Halen their favorite band. As far as the inter turmoil goes, I think a lot of it was blown out of proportion. I agree with you when you say how can they have inner turmoil and make such Perfect music

I played this album so many times as a young teen way back when (along with the rest of the Roth VH discography + 5150). DLR was the exact pairing needed for Eddie's playing. Dave's bluesy baritone stood out from the realm of high tenor range rock singers, and his wide range of music interest made for great melody hooks.

I agree mugs, I would have never guessed that there was inner turmoil in the band to create such great music. It might have been in later years when Eddie’s drinking really got bad.

The tension of egos between Dave and Eddie was the issue. That issue came up with Sammy also. Eddie didn’t like to be outshined and especially with a guy named Diamond David Lee Roth your going to if not be outshined he was going to take some of it off you. This is why to me Dave was the better frontman. It kept Eddie in check.
