Robert turned 20 the day after their first rehearsal, on August 20,1968. This album was recorded late September early October 1968, in 4 days & about 30 hours, start to total finish. Jimmy & their manager paid for, & Page produced & edited. This album was released in the USA on January 12,1969, & the UK in March. They were only together about 2 months at the time. They singed with Atlantic Records on November 11,1968, without Atlantic Records hearing them perform live. They also released their second album, in October of 1969. Plant & Bonham were both 20, in January Page would turn 25, & JPJ 23. Greatest band to ever grace this planet. Their story proves it was meant to be. Thank you so much for your reaction, can’t wait for the next, one of my favs.

"Is this really Robert Plant?!" ... You are totally cracking me up, laugh. But yeah man this one has blown me away since I ever first heard it in Junior high. So many fond and intense memories associated with it. They just came right out of the gate hitting so hard.

Yes, yes they did set the world on fire. Within a few months on tour they were no longer down the bill with other bands. They were the top bill or very soon in 1969 - the only band on the bill. NOTHING sounded like them!

I still get emotional hearing this song even though I've heard it a billion times. It's just so well put together and they're having such fun but they are already beasts at what they do.

In the 50's and 60's many young British were very much Blues and Rock fans. And then they brought it back to the USA in the form of the British Invasion 1963-1967 or so.

The Beatles did talk about British culture. Ever heard 'Penny Lane', 'Eleanor Rigby'; 'A Day in the Life. Strawberry Fields Forever' and most of their lyrics in their songs are influenced by their experiences in Britain. It's just their style of music that was influenced by America. Much the same with Led Zeppelin though perhaps LZ took on board more of the American blues lyrics but not exclusively so.

"Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" -- this souped-up psychedelic blues stomp is a cover of a song first recorded by Joan Baez in 1962. Baez heard songwriter Anne Bredon performing the song on the radio and began performing the song herself. Led Zeppelin's guitarist Jimmy Page heard her version, souped it up, and wow, there you have it! Fire!

White British kids discovered Black American music culture and introduced it to white Americans via the British Invasion in the sixties. A lot of Black American blues musicians credit the white British bands for finally getting them their due in their own country!

After world war II American Merchant Marines bringing supplies over to England would have guitars blues albums jazz albums and kids will be hanging around docks and so these sailors would give these kids gifts..... Which in turn is a generation of the Beatles, The who and led Zeppelin and all of those bands that came out of the 60s invasion

A lot of the American influence on British baby boomers is the result of American Soldiers from WW2 leaving behind their records, guitars, harmonicas and even babies after returning to America after the war. Eric Clapton’s father, though he never knew him, was a Canadian Soldier who made Eric at British Dance Hall during WW2 where he played piano and left behind his guitar. Clapton’s father went on to be a pretty good piano player on on the lounge circuit through the 60’s 70s and 80s and would have know of Eric’s rise but not that it was his son. The rise of rock and roll through the fifties in America was mirrored inBritain but where in America, Little Richard, and Chuck Berry couldn’t appear on stage with whites or in front of whites because of segregation, when they traveled to Britain the headlined to mixed audiences (mostly white) and pulled younger white rock and roll acts along with them.

History is a funny thing WW2 American GIs came to the UK for the invasion of Europe D-Day the American military segregated The African American GIs from White GIs they tried to implement this segregation in UK bars, clubs, cinemas and dance halls a lot of the British public refused to comply with this. The African American troops brought their music with them it caught on the UK public liked it so the Blues, Jaz and Soul music of the 40's, 50's and the 60's so much so some African American artists were more well known and had bigger sales in the UK and Europe most of the popular UK bands of the 60's and 70's started off covering straight rock and roll, blues and Jaz and then took that basic sound and started to experiment and take it to another level they then took it back to the US it was known as the so called British invasion of America. It started with the Beetles, the stones, the animals, the kinks and the who soon to be followed by the likes of Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Deep purple, Pink Floyd, The Moody blues, Procel harem, King crimson, YES, ELP, Genesis,
