for me, this has the most heartbreaking and saddest line ever. "I've got a wife now, years we've been goin' strong, oh, no, theres just something that I've got to say. Sometimes when we make love, I still can see your face" How very sad, for him, and imagine being his wife.

I don't believe he doesn't love his wife. Everyone you love, you love differently, not more, not less, just differently. Some just seem more special and meaningful than others. I sometimes think about the one I let go. I can't help thinking about her even though I married someone else. That's how impactfull our love was. But that's what life's about; making choices and then living your life with the choices you made and continue to make. Great reaction to a trip down 'memory lane' for me. Thank you

Ambrosia started as more of a progressive band with soul mixed in. The soul component got bigger over time and took over. I think both incarnations are excellent. And yes, this was the best time for music. Genres mixed, great vocalists, multiple instrument types… the audience was respected and the bands gave them challenging music.

I confess, I was cracking up around the 2:20 mark. You were gettin' into it! Love these reactions! I was in high school when this came out... so you can just imagine the traction on the dance floor that you could get with this song. You are speaking tons of truth! I agree with your sentiments on not covering some of these songs and the conflict with wanting to bring it into the future. I grew up in the 60's & 70's, my folks were from the Big Band Jazz era. I loved their music! I think the music they shared with me, really informed my little growing brain about the power of it all. My kids are your age, and they grew up in a home where we listened to as many genres as we could. They got to see some great live performances with us in their later years. I think sharing the soundtracks of generations across generations is so important, I can't stress it enough. It's folks like you that keep me watching stuff like this. I've been subscribed for a while now, so I will be celebrating with you when that 100K hits!

Ambrosia touched on alot of styles in a very classy way--this DEF being R&B of course. Their first 2 albums were more in a proggy pop/rock vibe..you just have to hear them to understand. They had a hit on the debut called 'Holdin' On To Yesterday'..worth your time, bro. In fact--the entire album is pure class. Others here will steer you to the other top hits they had. Enjoy, T

Mug, so glad you have found 'OUR' music! It's cool seeing you embrace the beauty of it! But even then you STILL have no idea what it was like. We didn't try to put the music into categories. People always want to put 'genre' labels on something they are hearing 2nd hand! There was so much good music coming out of radios and clubs everywhere!! It was a smogisboard and we ate EVERYTHING!! Even in cities not named NY, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, the clubs and discotheques were jamming until 4 AM. And this was not just on the weekends. The clubs were on it 2-3 days during the week too! In Germany, The Netherlands and Denmark sometimes it was daylight when we finally broke free of the dance floor!! In Spain, the mgmt of the discos would serve FREE food at around 2 AM to get us through the next 3 hrs of partying. Everyone was smoking some 'RIGHTEOUS' stuff as we used to say! The sweet, lithe, tattoo FREE bodies of the ladies was something to behold. Hot, beautiful and dripping with sweat so much so, you could wring it out! Because they ALL could and did dance! And if you couldn't, well you probably went home ALONE! It is a time that still resonates in my memory. I hope that gives you a little bit more perspective on what it was like!! When people talk about partying now, I say OK! And in my mind I'm thinking, you don't know the half of it. Nobody DIED when we partied. Peace out people... (edit: punctuation)
