And the fact that theyre singing and rapping in English which is their third language makes them even more commendable. As a Japanese Alpha, I just wanna say that this really means a lot to XG 😭 when a brother like you who truly knows RnB and HipHop praise the girls for their musical talent in such a way. Thank you so much! I'm really digging your reactions. One thing I want to emphasize though, is that English is NOT an easy language to learn for most Japanese, except for ppl like me and Maya (one of the members) who went to international schools and grew up speaking it in one way or another. English pronunciation is extremely difficult for most Japanese (notoriously so if you will...) Although these girls seem to sing and rap effortlessly in English and they do to pull it off pretty naturally, there's no doubt that the girls put in constant and relentless efforts in order to be how they are now - it is not just their singing and dancing. Maybe some English speakers may take this for granted, but for us, this is extremely mind blowing (and this holds true especially for their rap skills, needless to say) And no, you don't need no gear and stuff to join us ALPHAZ, LMAO

It was inspired by a 1995 Japanese movie titled "Love Letter" about a woman losing her husband during a snowstorm in the mountains. You claimed in the chat that you like songs that are deep and thought provoking, but you seem too shallow to even consider this song as being legit. If you actually listened to the lyrics, which is in perfect English, instead of making up excuses why the song is weak maybe you can appreciate it for what it is instead of bringing up assumptive opinions like Japanese people don't celebrate Christmas and that they can't possibly know English. It is the hardest language if you the one learning wants to learn the entire vocabulary. English as we know has synonyms, homonyms, and antonyms which is one of the things about English that makes it more difficult . Antonyms, not so much, just opposite meaning.One look at the English Dictionary says it all. One of the easiest is actually Japanese, their are different dialects but what makes it easier to learn is a less complicated vocabulary and a fraction of the English language.

I'm obsessed watching fancams of their world tour First Howl dropping today. There's nothing rawer than their live concerts. This First Take comes in as a close second only because there's no audience going crazy. The girl with the gospel voice is one of the rappers named Maya she's underrated compared to her xg sisters. She's also fluent in English and always translates for her xg girls. Their songs are in English to reach a wider audience besides R&B/Hiphop is an inherent English genre, but they still spit and vibe in their native tongue from time to time. The studio cut has its place and the MV is crazy about how they shot it. Heartbreaking also. But The First Take and the It's Live channels really shows groups like XG what they can do. You can tell these girls we're nervous doing both Shooting Star and Winter Without You live for the first time. It's Live version felt more comfortable probably because they had a live band backing them up.

Most Japanese people can speak some English. They’re just shy to converse. It’s common for pre-schools and kindergartens to provide English interactions. By elementary school, it’s part of the curriculum. Maya attended an international school. That’s why she speaks perfectly with an American accent. Harvey is half Australian. Jurin being a pro snowboarder prior to becoming an idol had many interactions with international athletes. Chisa, well, she’s Chisa. Also realize what was expected of them to be a part of XG. Simon (JAKOPS) told them he was creating a global group. For 5 years until their debuted in March 2022, they were training, practicing and learning languages every day. They trusted in Simon’s plan 100% and gave 100% effort. Now, what you see and hear is what you get. They may not be your cup of tea, but you have to respect the commitment.

they never used autotune to correct their vocals. Jurin only had some autotuned parts on Shooting Star just for the effects. Autotune is not effective for correcting vocals with smoothness. It's a tool mainly used to add some cool effects to the voice (T-pain style for example).

During training they covered songs in Spanish so they made sure they could sing in a language that they didn't know. Maya is completely fluent in English she says she doesn't even remember learning it. All of their English has gotten better but I believe Chisa will be the next one to get there.

As someone who had to learn an other language, I could definitely understood it earlier then speaking it. Speaking a foreign language is so much harder than understanding it. Some people do it easier than others but some of us have blockages because we might say something incorrectly and being ridiculed for it, or the accent/pronunciation we might do it wrong.Until we feel comfortable to just let that faucet run, we might look like we don't know shit but we do. It is tough.

Words can be translated so anything they don't quite get at first can be understood. And it's not like they don't know any English. Plus, as others have said, Maya is fluent so there's no reason to not know what words mean. The hate they get for CHOOSING English to perform in is crazy. They are not just sticking English words in where the don't belong. They want to be global. The best way to do that is to speak English. They could have come out and just performed in Japanese and Korean. And even if a few people liked them, the majority of the west would think of just another group that i can't understand. To know and understand what these girls did to get here watch their Documentary series Xtra Xtra. You can’t have a heart and not fall in love with these girls! They had thousands of girls try out to hope to get picked/train and eventually maybe debut as a group. 5yrs in the making, some were as young as 10yrs old….driven young girls! Jurin was a semi pro snowboarder at 12 if I’m not mistaken and modeled. There’s so much more I won’t spoil!

They do sing live, but only delusional people will think that there isn't any post production work done. These performances are specifically made as KZbin videos, they ALL have post production, just like videos have post production and filters used to enhance color and quality before they are released. This isn't taking away from any singer's live vocal skills or talents, it's just an inarguable fact. The only time you will get "raw" vocals is through fancams of live performances, like street busking. But, all the singing platforms like First Take, It's Live, Killing Voice... ALL of them use some sort of post production before they release the final videos for public viewing.
